Hello, my name is Brandon. My fiance, Morgan and I just purchased a 2005 MCS with 28,000 miles on her. Having never driven one b4 purchasing this one, and this being the 3rd day of our ownership, this is the most fun I've ever had driving a vehicle. I am so glad that we decided on a Mini. We live about 5 miles west of Wilson, and I work in Raleigh so if you see an Electric Blue S with white bonnet stripes, that's us.

Congrats and Welcome! :)

We have lots going on in the Triangle and Eastern NC this year - check the Event News link at the top of the page! Come out and see us in Holly Springs on Feb 9th!

Yep, I've driven my MINI about 15 months and 27,000 miles, and I'm still grinning... it's awesome... :D

I did the same as you (bought 2005 S) 5 or 6 months ago, on ebay! I barely realized how fun it was to drive (going back-n-forth to work) until I went to the Smokey mountains with the tarheel minis. The Tail of the Dragon and plenty of other twisty roads was just too much fun.

Enjoy -- hope to see you at one of the upcoming group events.

Welcome to the proverbial "club" and the literal club! You'll have a blast with your MINI and with this group, both in cyberspace and hyperspace.

Sorry, quick reference to some of our fun runs, which are of course, ALWAYS at posted legal limits--except for Paul, who drives 13mph under all conditions. ;-)

Looking forward to meeting you guys and checking out your MINI at an upcoming event!

I'm new as well (week #2, '05 MCS), and am having fun. Finding it hard to keep setting a good example for my soon-to-be-driving teenager......

Let's see, week one was motor mount and strut bar, week 2 is new tires (non rf) and removal of resonator, week 3 will be a weekend at VIR......yep, I'm a goner........

How necessary is the motor mount? And did you notice a difference after the strut bar install? I was thinking of doing CAI first, then resonator removal.

The motor mount was very necessary since the existing one was leaking all over. I don't really know what difference the strut bar made from experience, since I put it on the day I got it, but prior experiences have shown me there is a noticeable change under "certain conditions". I mainly wanted to try and head off any strut tower issues. The resonator removal produced a slight change in tone, and the gurgling is now more pronounced (I like that:cool:), but that's about all I noticed. BTW, if anyone needs super quality exhaust work done, R&J in Apex is THE place. I'll be posting pics on www.minicoop.net (http://www.minicoop.net) soon so you can see it, but their work is top drawer. Our club has been using them for years, ALWAYS with great results. I highly recommend!
