Has any one replaced their runflat tires for tires that last longer 18,000 miles. My dealership told me that runflat tires usually last like 15,000 miles. They alson informed me that the tires for my 06' cooper s are like 300 dollars each. They said I could replace them with a low composite, high profile tire. Does anyone have suggestions for a good tire.

I plan on putting Goodyear F-1, all season tyres on my steed next. Tread wear rating of 420, price around $155. Blimey has a set for winter use, but they have a -aa- traction rating and can be used full time. Looks like I may get 25K on my current Goodyear P205/45R/17 RSA runflats.

Any way you go... DON'T buy tires from a car dealer unless you enjoy a good........;)

I put Bridgestone Potenza S03s on, $90 each, will barely get 20K out of them. You can ask Alex at TireRack.com, or your local Discount Tire dealer, or the local guys, just don't repeat, don't buy tires from a stealer, I mean dealership. Not their forte. (Sorry Drew.)

BTW, I take my MINI and the wifey's car to the dealership for service and her car is REALLY expensive, however, it's my policy, while under warranty to let them do routine maintenance and service work. Dan at GrassRoots Garage does all my enhancement mods, and I'm going back to Discount Tire soon for shoes for all three babies. TireRack is fine, I just prefer the personal experience at DT.

Whenever you buy anything from a dealer, the price you pay will reflect the overhead of the entire dealership, plus a healthy margin on parts and labor (service), because selling new cars and warranty work does not pay the bills...... That's why a $180 tire from Tirerack costs $300 at a dealership. When it's not warranty work, do your business elsewhere.

As far as run-flats go, my advice would be to find cheap onesies and twosies RF's until you need a whole set (if you must), then ditch them, or go ahead and bite the bullet and dump them all at one time and get real tires.......

Hi Minibugs,

Where did you get them? What is the traction rating and tread wear? Are they summer tires or all season?
