I'm looking to buy a 2005/2006 MCS with a manual transmission and no sunroof.

I'd prefer something with less than 100k on the odo and in great condition.

On one of the FB groups there's a nice GP for sale and another 06 that has a noisy supercharger, priced accordingly.

I'm waiting to hear back from them, l'll be going up that way in a couple of weeks time, so if they still have it l'll take a look and test drive.

The person l spoke to at the dealership didn't know to much about the car, or the history, and the 1 google review didn't seem favourable. But we'll see.

I'm really not surprised. That's a steal for a R53 JCW with 70k on the clock.

If you're stuck on on R53, I can't help you. I have an R56 with a JCW tuning kit and its back seats. 114K on the odo. I live in Raleigh, but work in Wilson, so I'm not as far away as you think.

The No Sunroof is making it much harder to find as you've noticed I'm sure.. Do you not want the sunroof because of the weight or sun/heat coming thru it?

I wish I didn't have a sunroof for the heat factor. Don't forget the LSD! You can really feel it working while blasting through the mountains.

The sunroof can always be covered up with a roof graphic, or just a solid piece of vinyl to block the sun..

There's a few reasons why l don't want a sunroof - heat, noise and potential leaks + it can be expensive if/when it goes wrong - as l found on my old Mini (luckily it was under warranty at the time).

I'm looking at a couple of other R53's, a 06 with 60k miles on but it's been kept at the beach - so potential rust issues? And a JCW 06 - factory installed JCW package, but has 140k on the odo.

Speaking to some of the specialist Mini garages, they suspect i may have issues with the supercharger pretty soon with the mileage on the car, and the current owner has already put over 3k in the last couple of months into the car.

I really liked the frosted Jack you did a while back. Can you combine that with say black vinyl to do a full cover?

The beach rust can vary. Our 05 originally was purchased in Wilmington, then was brought to Durham, and is now back in Wilmington. It has no rust. It comes down to how well it was maintained.

The 05-08 got the Teflon coated m45 supercharger. Its more durable, but if the oil was never changed I'd be concerned.

If you wanting to do a full roof wrap, you'd have to buy the vinyl out as we don't use it here at work for what we do. Somewhere like R-vinyl.com, Metrostyling, and others will have it. Would have to just cover the whole roof, trim out the sunroof and if you then wanted a graphic on the roof apply it then, unless you wanted it out of the black vinyl.

Funny thing about the Superchargers is we have had club members to go bad at 50,000, granted most last to 100,000 or more. Another member has 200,000 on his and it's still going...
