Caravan to Waynesboro, Va

My plans are to leave early on Thursday morning around 10am. I want to get there and get things ready for us. If anyone wants to tag along, please let me know.

OK, it looks like Blimey will no longer be heading up on Thursday and I haven't seen anyone else post anything as far as a Triangle group or a caravan later in the day than Twister's 10:00 a.m. start. So, I suppose I'll throw out my current plans and if anyone wants to hookup, we can give it a try.

I'm planning to leave from my house around 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. If Google Maps is correct, that should put us there right at about 6:00 p.m. Below is a link to the route I'm planning to follow:

This will actually give me a chance to scope out a road for an event up to Smith Mountain Lake I've been thinking about proposing to THMMC, so I can kill two birds with one stone.:)

I'll be driving on the conservative side as my wife will be with me and she is already bordering on nausea just thinking about the leisurely drive on the BRP.:eek: Needless to say, we will not be participating in Blimey's post BRP run!

If there is enough interest from either the east or the west, I can adjust the route a little bit to make it easier to get everyone together.

Just post and let me know if you want to join me and we'll see what can be done to have a second caravan headed the Waynesboro way.

Not sure where you are coming from -- sorry, I'm having a hard enough time keeping the names, screen names, and cars straight w/o figuring out who belongs to what city ... but ... I can not leave "town" til about Noon -- that's town being Raleigh -- means I can co-ordinate in W/S | GSBO area around 1-1:30 ..
and LEISURELY is the only way that MY MINI knows how to go ... otherwise, I, of course, would set fire to the asphalt ... ha ha ha
(anyone who knows me knows that "car" excuse is mighty convenient ...)

Well, you'll hit Graham before you hit either G'boro or W-S. We're right next to Burlington at exit 147 on the Interstate. I'll actually be leaving work in Durham at noon, takes about 30 minutes for me to get home. Load up and I'll be ready to leave. Unless you can hook up with someone going straight from Raleigh, my route should work pretty good for you.

That sounds good! I will take 40 to exit 147 and meet up with you there somewhere .. around 1-1:30 sound OK to you? If you are familiar with a good place to meet (ie landmark of some sort) I'm not familiar, just name it and I'll find it ...

If there are others coming from Raleigh on our timeframe they can either meet me in Raleigh and we'll caravan to Graham .. or they can meet both of us at the designated spot Exit 147 ..

We'll exchange contact info in the next week or so .. don't know about you, but with hot as it is, I'M READY for some cool mountain air!!

I'm leaving from Raleigh but can't leave Raleigh til 12-12:30 on Thursday (and I *will* be packed, gassed up and ready to go!!) and at this point I had planned on co-ordinating with Jeff around Exit 147 off 40 around 1:30 ... anyone in Raleigh area who wants/needs to leave around 12:30 and hit Exit 147 around 1:30 to catch up with Jeff (who's got it all mapped out after that --- I'm just following --- like what else is new??) please do .. I work near the RBC Center and plan to get on 40 at Exit 290, but that's flexible ..

Susan (and anyone else wanting to catch up with my route):

I'll help those out coming from the east the tiniest bit and make the rendevous point Exit 150 (Haw River). When you exit, at the top of the ramp, turn right. Immediately to your right will be a Wilco-Hess gas station/truck stop. We'll meet there in the parking lot (go on past the gas pumps down by the fast food restaurant - a Wendy's I think). I think we should probably try to be ready to depart at 1:30 p.m.

Susan, from the RBC Center I can make it to 150 in about 40-45 minutes depending on traffic, normally running about 75 give or take a few. Of course, that is usually late at night after Wolfpack games.
