Craig has started working on the design for the new MSSD shirt. It will be unveiled soon. As soon as it is, we will begin taking orders for shirts. Anyone want to handle that part of the event?

I'm confused (what else is new, right?) ... will these be re-badged last years design (per Twisters post) or a whole new design???

<High Jack> Jason, Once you have the design will this go on NAM in the events section, or are you trying to keep this on the down low this year?

Guys, I am sorry for the lack of being on here everyday and updating everyone. I have three major projects going on, and this is the only one not work related. I have a rough draft for the new shirt design, and it looks great. I really like it. As soon as it's done, i will post it on here. I am not going the route of posting in on NAM, I just really want it to be low-key, as everyone's feedback from last year was that that was the best part about it, and I agree.
I want it to be word of mouth, and just a great gathering of new and old friends, and driving the precious lady we call The Dragon, with the Fall's leaves tossing up on the road behind us.
I have not put together the shirt want list yet, because I don't have the final design yet. Also, TWISTER (Mark Vogler) has volunteered to help with handling the shirts this year, from payment to distribution, and that is MUCH appreciated. Mark does it all the time, and knows it's alot of work, which I found out last year. Last year, I handled greeting at the dinner, April took up money for the dinner, and as the shirts were just out, some walked away that shouldn't have, so a couple of people didn't get the shirts they paid for. It was unfortunate, but I have learned from that mistake, and Mark's handling this with his Mrs. will really help.
I will need help with a couple of other things. One is the Brew Swap. Last year's was a lot of fun, even for those that don't drink. Midnight Dave came by as Austin Powers for a couple of seconds, and it was a blast. It was great hanging out with the Canadians, and munching on their maple cookies (which I hope they bring again in mass.)
The other thing is someone willing to kinda head up the Midnight Dragon run. BlimeyCabrio (Paul Penny) helped last year, and I don't want him to have to do that and the Saturday Loop Run he leads that is so much fun.
Other than that, things are coming together. Thankfully, I learned alot last year, and because we have created this event to be simple, it will be easier to manage. Thanks all for your support for this event, at the end of the weekend, it's all about you, and this great little car we get to drive! (I especially should say thanks to Tarheel MINI Motoring Club, who has really been a big part of the event, both last year and this year. Mark Vogler and Paul Penny in particular, have been a BIG help!)

Twister just puts the shirt deals together as a favor to the Club, it's not a business.

Not really quite sure what your response has to do with my hatred towards writing checks.

PP takes funds away from us per transaction. I would much rather see you spend .42 cents on a stamp than the club or our charity loose $2.50+ per transaction. There is only a $5 addition to our cost on the shirts

If you use online BillPay thru your banking institution to pay ie utility bills, dr bills etc, just set up THMMC as one of your payees .. no checks to write!
(I think Paypal only charges trx fee if total dollar amount is over $500 per month, but since Twister organizes and arranges all this out of the goodness of his heart - no monetary advantage to him - whatever payment arrangements are easiest for him are agreeable to me!)

I did some quick, napkin calculations. Looks like if Twister were able to pull all the money out at once on a minimum order size, he'd incur about a $20 transaction fee from PayPal (roughly 5% when all is said and done). It would be nice to have an electronic payment option as I hardly ever write hard checks myself, but I don't particularly like PayPal (though I occasionally use it myself when forced to).
As Susan notes, with all this being done by Twister on a volunteer basis, whatever works for him is good for me. And as Twister notes, I would rather see what I pay either go back into the club or to our charities (the Blood Water Mission in this case) rather than being skimmed off the top by PayPal.
