Saw him run IMSA races in the Datsun Z at CMS. I think it was the Camel car. RIP

I checked on Paul's racing career. He did run 24 races in IMSA, but I probably saw him in a SCCA race though he ran Datsun's/Nissan's in 1979, 1985, 1986. The Camel car was used as a show car and pace car.

Used to see him race Summit Point in the 70's and 80's in Bob Sharpe's Datsuns and win the majority of the Scca nationals back when i lived in Va and raced Mazda Rx2's. Actually got to talk with him after drivers meetings and he was a super nice guy and a great and talented competitor.Godspeed PLN.

Back in the day before Spevco was Spevco Marty had a place called Corvette's INC housed in the now Sneed's Speed Shop building and they did a lot of the sheet metal and paint work on those Datsun's and Paul's teammate was Jim Fitzgerald who lived in Clemmons. That is where I fell for the Z cars back in the 70's! Those red, white and blue Z's were awesome...

He also raced Loti, b/c my ex-father-in-law went up against him in matched Lotus something or anothers at a track near Boston or somewhere and beat him. I'm sure he's back bragging about it now.

Paul was a fine specimen of the American male in the international spotlight and unfortunately, there aren't many of those around the days. If we could merge Jay Leno's passion for vehicles, Tom Hanks' classiness, Brad Pitt's looks and Ted Nugent's machismo, we'd have it...

While he's no longer here, he's still an American Icon.
