Hi, I am a new mini owner and am looking for feedback as to how often others change the oil in there mini. Do you change more frequent than the recommended 10,000? Have you experienced any negatives by not changing until 10,000? Thanks for any info you can provide!

I have done mine after 3.000 Miles... done this with every new car... during break-in period there is most "dirt" produced within the engine till all part's fit 100% together... if you want to be pro-active and have little oil consumption when the car is older this is probably the way to go, but at the end depends on your driving style...

Doing the service as required keeps you in warrentee. Doing it more often can be cheap insurance and peace of mind. Time is also a factor.
Also if your Mini was purchased used, the service may not have been per Mini specs. ( thanks for the heads up Mark. Thast 's what the pm was about. Will be rectified tomorrow).

Make sure that you DO NOT reset your service indicator if you decide to do an early service, this will complicate your scheduled service with the dealer.

Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding warranty.

Dan you are correct. I did not reset just for that reason. Seems that Flow Honda did an oil change and used "dino oil". Had them change again after Mark put a bug in my ear. Ya think they would read the label on the motor when putting in the oil or at least holler across the street for some advice, as this was their 1st Mini

All is straight and "Madge" gets another transfusion in about 3500 mi. ;)

I'm glad to hear they took care of you, and even more so that you called them on it. I once had a BMW 328 come in for its 1st service at 15,000 but didn't mention that he had done an "early service" At 1,000. The shop that did it used dino oil, and the engine was cooked.
