How many classic owners do we know?

I know a bunch, but none in NC now, no, wait, I think Bill James has one in St. James, then there's Bill C in Earl. I am planning on my next Mini ( have had about 17 or 18 so far) to be a Moke, when we get settled in NC, which should be a year or so.

Bruce Sutta down here in Charlotte and the new city VP for M2C2 has one, unless he's sold it? There are also a LOT that show up at Eurofest each year, so I know they're around...

"S" in quotes because I believe it was converted in the 70's. Never really wanted to know for sure.
Red, really fast. I am parting with it due to lack of use and a house downsize.
Over all in very good condition, no rot.
I hope to have it at Minipalooza on the 26th.

I presently own a 1968 Mini Austin Coupe
I started in Canada, moved to Boston, now live in West New York NJ and plan to retire in Wilmington, (Brunswick Forest) North Carolina sometme after June of 2010. Mini needs some tune up work and maybe even a little body work. Does anyone know of anyone in NC who works on original Minis, even part time? I also had the third BMW mini out of the showroom in Boston, but sure not the same as my right hand drive classic. Hope to meet some classic owners when we move to NC.
Mini has now been restored. Dan, who's parents live in Hampsted, worked on her for me.
She is at our new home in Leland, NC. I hope to get her brake line fixed in October and then she is ready to take on the road.
Let me know if there are any Tarheal Mini owners I can visit in the Leland NC area.

There are a few Mini owners around NC. In fact, one guy has a website you'd be interested in - http://restorationmini.com
http://restorationmini.com/forum/index.php
He has a shop in Wilmington, and does some work. I'm moving to St James (near Southport) around the same time, May 2010, and know one owner there. I have owned many and will again!
Best,

Thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Raleigh and just bought a '78 Clubman. I'm English, and had a succession of A-series engined cars, though this will be my first Mini.
I take delivery of it in a week or two. If there are any NC British car events then I'll hopefully be attending.
Cheers!

Welcome Tim
I am also English but live in VA, but I am often in Winston-Salem. I had a few classic MINI back in England years ago and now love my new MINI's. I hope to get to meet you and your Clubman soon.

Tim,
Welcome. I have a '78 RHD with a morris motor turbo conversion. I just got the car back after a 1 1/2 yrs working on it.....so I haven't been able to participate yet but this spring it is finally on.
There is a national classic mini club with a chapter in VA. I know they are having their annual event in TN - Oct. 2010 but I think they hold regional events as well.

Hope to dust some cobwebs off this topic and see if there are anymore Classics in NC these days.
I'm Ryan, just moved to the Charlotte area and am currently restoring my 1990 Rover Mini. Its at the paint shop, 998 is pulled and a 1275 is going in once its back from paint. Should be done in the next month or two.
My buddy Cole here in Charlotte is restoring his Canadian 1960 Classic right now too, is a few months behind me, and once my car is done, I'll be helping him out alot more. So thats two of us in town, if there are anymore of you, please chim in!

Another Charlotte Classic checking in. We have a 1980 Classic mini Cabrio. It is RHD with the 1275 engine (actually the only MPI engine I know of running a carb rather than injection.) Tremendous fun even for a 6'10" guy :ms_thumbsup:

MPi with carbs?
And 6'10" in a Classic?
Two things I didn't know were possible in our cars!

The motor was a transplant into a 1980 after the original 998 imploded (three weeks after I got the car.) We swapped out the entire front sub frame as well as the fuel tank fro a low miles '98. The carb setup is great because we retained the ECU to fire the coil. Fuel lines we a PITA because we needed to run new return lines as well as to plumb in a pressure regulator to the pressure down for carb.
Not only can I drive the car but I can do so with two kids in the back seat (I can't do that in a new Cabrio.)

Well, long story short.....that Moke wasn't right for me. The guy was smoking something and wanted way too much cash for that car. Anyway, went to Florida to visit my sister and see a few Mokes for sale there. Ending up buying a 66 English Moke that was taken apart, body work done and never reassembled. Good project for me, with most of the hard stuff done already! Going there this Friday to bring it home in a Penske rental truck!
And, here it is in the garage, rear view:
