A group in High Point has proposed a Grand Prix race by 2010 on the streets of downtown High Point. It will be modeled after the Long Beach Grand Prix. They are hoping the event could be part of one of the big sports car series, the American Le Mans series or the Daytona Prototypes!! Looks like it has growing support, now wouldn't this be cool!! :ms_thumbsup:

I'd love to see something like that happen in our area, but my gut feeling says it will never come to pass. It maybe a good way to help the High Point area recover losses from the slow furniture markets.

Rich Brenner is speaking about the Grand Prix at the monthly Corsa Rossa meeting Tuesday night, I'll post up how far along he say's it is after that.... Got my fingers crossed, this could be good for the whole area if the economy get's going in the right direction again...

Who knows, if this goes through a Mini race might be a good shake down for them!:yes4: Of course you know that with the concrete barriers used at street races you don't really have an "off", it's an " against"...

Just my personal opinion, but I don't think the ALMS need another street race (too many already). I wish they'd come to VIR instead.

They would be great at VIR but I don't think the city of High Point would be very interested in putting up the big bucks to make it happen as they seem to be for a Grand Prix in High Point.....

They could race tractor trucks now that would be cool. Have you watched that on ESPN, or the Speed Channel? Sweet

Rich Brenner canceled last minute siting that as of Monday all three of the major sponsors shelved their support until 2013 because of the economy..... :ms_ponder::sad:
