My brother asked me if I was just going to keep doing this to see at what point I would be thrown out.....

This will actually be my daughter's car when she turns 16 in a couple of months. This fell into my lap at a price I could not refuse........

Holy cow, that's almost the exact same car I traded in to get my MINI! Mine had a dimple in the front corner of the hood and black interior, but other than that, it's like seeing a ghost!

That's a great car! Mine was an automatic - one of the smoothest cars I've ever driven. That engine will go to at least 300,000 miles. I traded mine in at 182,000 and a friend with a 735i traded his in with 320,000. The clearcoat on mine had started to peel on the rear quarter panel and roof, too.

I definitely impressed a few girls in college with that car, too. =)

Beautiful car, but I cringe that the thought of cleaning the brake dust out of those wheels!

Not with a 16 year old at the wheel...:arg:

Mine was doing fine with a 22 yr old at the wheel. Believe me, I dropped it into D3 a lot. =) I made the trip between Chapel Hill and Boston about 5 times, and I got the car with over 150k miles on it. That car was great. When I graduated college, my father gave me the choice between a three-year old Jeep Liberty that drove like a cardboard box and the 535i. I knew the Jeep would get me a lot closer to a MINI on trade-in, but the 535i was such a great car I planned on driving it for a while and saved up the difference. Not that my family was rich, but my dad's a car guy and that was his thing. Glad your daughter is as lucky as I was.

Great car! Man, to have that at 16... nice! You're too kind! Seriously though, probably one of the safest options you can have for a new driver, assuming they're not iintentionally insane with it (like I would be).

This makes bimmer #8 for me, and I have found that to be true. All it takes is a little extra care and more than a little extra $$$$.....

My dad bought a new 535i about 20 years ago and it was an incredible automobile. A blast to drive, especially with the manual tranny. I always enjoyed taking it for a spin when I went to visit. Unfortunately, my "little" brother wrapped it around (literally) a telephone pole about 15 years ago but walked away from the accident. So, in addition to being fun and long-lasting, its also pretty darn safe.
