Yikes, that was a scary ride in for me. Almost too frazzled to work now. I-85/I-40 was terrible from Burlington into Durham, but better as I got closer to Durham. Very, very slick out there. Managed to snap the pic below on the Durham Expressway. Wish I had gotten the dude that had been tailgating me and driving like a bat out of ---- in Graham; I saw him later on the Interstate backed into the concrete median.

WHAT? some idiot got his/her just reward? Isn't that akin to the folks passing you on the interstate when you are already doing 85mph and then seeing same car a few miles down the road with a blue light halo surrounding it?

About an inch in Charlotte, enough to stay home, and tell my team to do the same--as I put it to them, they all have remote access and I don't care where their fingers happen to be as they type away...
I may take the truck out soon for some fun...everybody drive carefully!

Pretty much a dusting here in K'ville as well, but I was told this morning that Asheboro had 2-3 inches, farther south towards Moore County they got as much as 5-6 inches of snow in some areas.

Interested in hearing what the conditions are like tonight anywhere between here (Holly Springs/Apex) and High Point... I have a 9AM meeting in High Point tomorrow... gotta decide by about 6AM if I am going to go for it, or punt... haven't even been out of the driveway today to assess local roads... guess I should do that before dark tonight...

The roads right now in Raleigh are fine .. the sun has melted the snow and they are just wet.
How do I know that?
well, I ventured out to the office to try and preserve some leave time and also under the logic that my office is less than a mile from the ESA where I was to be attending the Celine Dion concert tonight. Not til after 3pm this afternoon did they postpone that concert .... grrr ...
ok, i got sidetracked there. Of course the biggest problem is that tonight these wet roads will freeze and tomorrow's AM drive will likely be worse than today's. My MINI will sit and the CRV will be in commission.
Not sure if that helps you -- but it relieved me of some aggravation that had to be vented ... :girl_wacko:

It started snowing in the mountains at 8:30am Sunday morning and is still snowing at 6:30pm Tuesday. I drove to Asheville this morning, about 10 miles south of Newland on Hwy 221, no more snow, blue skies. I did not drive the MINI, not sure how it would have done on the twisties and did not want to chance it. We have 7-10 inches and not sure how much more is expected. It is an opportunity for the skiers, snow boarders and tubers to experience fresh "real" snow.

It snowed another four inches after this picture was taken, but thought that was a lot for one hour...

Up here in SE VA we didn't get a thing! We watched it all head straight for us on the weather channel's website. It got to the VA line about the same time as a frontal boundary came along and scooted it south and east of most of Hampton Roads. The funniest thing, most of the area closed schools because it was SUPPOSED to snow. Our city, Poquoson and York County schools were the only ones that had school. That's the second time in 4 years the school officials cried wolf. Too funny!
