I'm looking into getting a Quafe LSD installed on my 2005 Cooper S (should have gotten the factory LSD, but didn't). How much would you charge to install it, and what parts would it affect the warranty on?
Thanks!

HotRodPilot,
I believe that job would be in the $800-$900 for labor. Also, I can probably get the best parts price for you as well, so please call me before buying anything. 336-972-4596. I don't know what other shops are charging for installing these, but I will stay in line with any "standard pricing".
Thanks for the interest, as I will need it to get this shop off the ground.

...... About the warranty, It would only affect the transmission. If you were to have, say, an axle problem, the dealer would not know the difference. Besides, I would offer a labor warranty on top of any parts warranty on the Quaife.
Thanks, Dan

Hey Dustin,
As far as I know, MTH is a German Tuner, they seem to have something for every make European car. I don't know how they come up with maps for every mod without having an identical car to yours for set-up. Maybe they are really good. I will try to learn more about them. ;)

I was in Thomasville last week on business, and I stopped by Ballpark Rd. to check it out. I guess you haven't got things set up completely yet, didn't seem to be anyone around. When do you think you'll be operational? I'll stop by and say hello. Sooner or later, my MC will need some work.

I will be fully up and running after that :) . Please call first if you would like to stop by, I'll make sure I'm there. 336-972-4596

Unfortunately I wasn't able to recieve your e-mail about LSDs, and I have also replied back to you about it. Could you please Cc iamrich172001@yahoo.com on that e-mail in case there is a hitch in the other e-mail system. Thanks!

I would like to thank you all for your support. I installed my lift last weekend, and I'm ready for business. I would love to do a little grand opening thing, I'm up for suggestions.
Thanks, Dan

I don't usually go after old threads, however this seemed like a good one to make this post b/c we're going to be at your shop on 10/7, and you're looking for a tech topic when we're there.
I'm looking for a mod you can do so you can edify us about the mod and the dynamics involved with this componentry--so I'm thinking I'll buy a CAI and have you put it on the wifey's car!
Do you, Griff, Mark, Drew, and any others who are more saavy agree that's a good mod for this, and if so, which intake?
1) Alta - the [sic] altimate but pricey
0) (CAI is not an option)
2) Helix - Unique, loooong filter, and cheap - WINNAH!
3) Pilo Racing - Unique and REALLY cheap, but a green filter?
4) Ultrick/K&N - been happy with K&Ns in the past, and it's a little cheaper
5) Webb - really like the looks, with the stainless box, and it's a lilttle cheaper
Plan B
Just found this, what about strut tower braces?

Dave,
A CAI sounds like a good idea. I am partial to the Helix filter, which I can sell with a club discount for $175 (MSRP $199) . It identical in material and construction to a K&N only much bigger, that is it has a lot more surface area for air to come in. The ALTA looks nice, but I am not a fan of open cell foam filters, and the optional silicone tube is a PITA to work with when working on the engine later, but if you prefer the looks, I could supply one for $235 (MSRP $259)

P.S. Thanks for stepping up to the plate
