View Full Version : Mod Party !!! 8/19

Mr. Magoo
July 10th, 2006, 01:18 PM
OK, here's the chance to do almost all the mods you wanted and make a family event out of it. On Saturday. 8/19, I will host a Mod Party at my house (shhhh!! wife doesn't know, but will find out).

I said almost all. It will not include pulley's and exhaust (right Dan?), but will include less involved mechanical items, such as cold air intakes. Also will include other items that people want, such as Euro Tray, MCAW (auto window up), stripes, etc. We need to know what you want and be sure and have it ordered for delivery, by that time. It may be if enough people want the same item, we can get a group buy.

We can meet at my house (Greensboro) and there is room for those not "modding" to fish, kayak (2), etc. or just relax in the shade. More plans to follow.

Google Link to Steve's House (http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=12+Canvasback+Pt,+Greensboro,+NC+27455)

Please reply with who and what you want done.

Mark V +3 Doing the mods for YOU!

Minianni +1 - ????

I plan on showing up, and hopefully showing off my new Mini. I'm probably only going to have a couple of minor mods to put on it at that point, nothing that will require assistance, but I will hold off until the party just for the sake of doing my first mods in good company. :D

Look forward to seeing you again. I recommend two "must have" mods.
1. Euro tray
2. MCAW (auto window up)

I have both and can't believe having a MINI with either.

Mr. Magoo

So far 3 MINI's in attendance ... mods 0. Looks like it will be an easy party so far.

Maybe Mark needs to list what mods can be done and what they are. Euro tray, MCAW, stripes....

Please also let me know if I should bring any tools (dremel, wiring gadgets, welder, etc)

I want to know more about the beer festival.
here is link to Summertime Brews Festival (http://summertimebrews.com/)

My cousin is the brewmeister for Rockbottom restaurant in Charlotte, and I try to help him with as many beer festivals as possible during the year (just because I can). I missed this one last year, but attended the brewers party the night before at Natty Greene's. (the food and beer there are awesome)

What time are we going to get started next Saturday? I'm up for coming out kinda early in case some of the mods take a long time.

For right now, consider me out for modding, though I still hope to have something to do while I am there. I put my mod money into the purchase, figured I would do the "smart" thing for once. ;)

10 o'clock at my house.

When you come to the house, rather than driving up the driveway, drive into the parking lot that is just to the left of my house, toward the lake (don't be bothered by the "no trespassing" sign), and park around to the right.

simplygriff
August 17th, 2006, 09:14 AM
Yeah, I'll do it for ya.

One thing you need to look for is the backend of an inkpen. Like the little plug off the end of a BIC pen. It's a good idea to try to find a couple different sizes too. The smaller the better. This is to plug the waterline that runs the wiper fluid to the rear.

I've committed my extra plug to Drew but I'll go pick up a couple more from Lowe's. I've got plenty of sealant left too.

Hey Griff, for capping off the spray hose, wouldn't a small screw work too? I have a better chance of finding one of those that fits. :p

What tools, food, drinks, etc. can I bring with me to help myself and others? I don't have tons of tools, but have some odd-ball ones, so if there are any strange/unusual tools needed for anyones mods throw it out there and I might be able to help.

Yeah that'd work too. We can just cover the whole thing in sealant too to make extra sure.

I've got the torx bit we need for my rear seat delete and a 10mm socket for the center bolt, other than that we just need intuition and patience. ;)

The Wet Okoles are on their way and should arrive at the house about the time I get there. :( LOL

Looking forward to meeting more folks and hearing about other mods.

Don't even get the silver paint idea, you'll have to show me, maybe I can surprise the wifey with that one...it's still "officially" her car for now, that's why I can't do the pulley/exhaust or anything "guy" (read performance) oriented, just cosmetic stuff at this point... :o

Had a great turnout! 13 MINI's and two other cars. While the weather was a bit warmer than we had hoped for we (primarily Mark) got plenty done. Striped some cars, MCAW'd some cars, removed rear wipers, removed rear seats, and even replaced some rear aero kit decals.

It was good to see some new faces and I appreciate those that came. Thanks to Midnight Dave for the pizza.

All, don't thank me, thank you guys...well worth the drive! Steve hosted, (what a beautiful setting), the other Steve and Mark did the rear seat delete for me, I also got a "supercharger-snout-grill" (Look at the pic of Drew's below it's more dramatic in silver, with silver stripes) from Mark and put in for by Drew...even though it will reduce air flow ;-)

Here are some pics...okay, a lot of pics! Every car is unique, so I caught a few details, as well as the people/mod's that were going on today.

I had a great time yesterday guys. The mods were all fun to do, I enjoy getting together to do mods, something I haven't ever had a chance to do with other cars/trucks. Thanks Griff for the help with the rear wiper removal, Mark thanks for the grille insert and goodies, Dave thanks for the help on Marks seats, and Steve thanks for hosting, it was a great place to meet!

The Beer Festival was a lot of fun. I got to catch up with Dan (Zippy) for a while and tasted many fine, and many not so fine beers. I think I tasted around 20-22 beers, and at around 2-4oz per beer I think I did alright. Not worth the money for the amount of beer I drank, but a fun time with lots of cool likeminded people, and not at all a drunken event like I was a little worried it could be. :)

I'd like to thank Steve for hosting the Mod part at his house and the free pizza. He certainly has a quite a kayak collection which shows off his craftsmanship skills.
Even though I didn't have anything done to mine, it was interesting watch others remove rear wipers, install the window up/down mod and of course watch Mark work up a sweat as he installed boot stripes on the car from Roanoke.
