I don't abuse vehicles, but I do enjoy them thoroughly, whatever their intent.

Just cleared the 1250 mile mark on the old odometer and heard a wonderful new sound, the supercharger wailing between 4K-6500 rpms...
Anybody else driving their Mini "enthusiastically", or am I just a brute who should have stayed with the Mustang?

I can confirm this as true. :D
For your info (not that it helps you now) but I had a long conversation with the resident mechanic, Dan Zipkin, and his standpoint on the engine break-in period is that you shouldn't keep it in the upper rpm range for very long, but that you can drive it like you intend to. During pre delivery inspection all of our cars were redlined and driven fairly hard to make sure there are no vibrations or strange noises and make sure everything works as it is supposed to. When mine comes in I plan on driving it normally from day 1.

Now you can get a pulley and intake and watch your MPG plummet. :D
