Drew, Griff, Dave, Everybody that took a peek at Drew's hatch at the mod party!!!!

That extra piece is the hardward for satellite radio. I'm putting together a page comparing my MINI to Rick's and I was using his sticker to make sure I get all of the extras listed when I found a nice little listing that reads as follows:

Anti-theft CD audio system with AM/FM radio, 6 speakers, presets, auxillary input ready, satellite radio ready and pre-wired for 6-disc CD changer.

Mystery solved, kids...you boys are ready to roll if you're interested in satellite radio!

Awesome! Thanks for the info on that. Is it only going to require a subscription to set it up? I might have to look into that considering how much time I spend in my car...

I wonder how that picture Dave took came out...

I'm not sure what it will take to get it activated, you may want to call your MA or 866.ASKMINI - they have been really helpful everytime I've called - to find out what the particulars are.

Although now that I see how simple it may be...I'll probably be calling to find out tomorrow. I will post my findings :D

Must be new to the 06's. My 05 doesn't have one. I hope you can get it working Drew!

Here's the 411 from 866.ASKMINI

- That box in the hatch is the wiring for the antenna
- It's for Sirius Radio
- You need to purchase a Sirius receiver
- The box allows full functionality of the satellite radio (I'm guessing for the MFSW, radio display, etc.)

So...there it is.
