Hi everyone! I just joined the Tar Heel Mini Motoring Club and wanted to introduce myself. My name's Laura and I live in Reidsville. I don't own a Mini yet but, hopefully, if all goes well, that will change in about two months - or by Christmas at the very latest. My dream Mini is Chili Red w/all the Union Jack accessories. :)

Hey Laura, welcome to the club. I joined when I ordered mine in June, so don't worry, not having a MINI yet doesn't mean you aren't allowed. I joined the group for 2 gatherings before taking delivery and still had a blast. You'll enjoy it, I'm positive about that. :)

How long did it take to get your car once you'd ordered it?

Mine took 5 weeks from order date to delivery date. I was impressed with the quick turnaround.

FYI, the MINI is going to be redesigned and vastly changed for 2007. If I have read correctly, the final orders for the 2006 models will be around October, and then the orders for the new model will take place. There is a lot of talk about it on NAM and MINI2, so if you are thinking about ordering, you might want to check that out.

I like a lot of the changes, and a few I'm not so positive about, but I knew I loved the 02-06 model, so I didn't want to wait for mine.

Welcome, Laura! This is a great bunch of people and you know how great the cars are...we just bought our '06 on a whim, the '07s look interesting; you can't go wrong either way.

I've driven my Tacoma pickup to Mustang meets--if I can get away with that, you can show up with us driving anything! ;-)

Please think about joining us for the Tanglewood parking lot festivities, no matter what you're driving...We need the help!

PS - Right now, I'm (barely) driving a '93 T-bird on its second motor, with 236K+ miles on it (that's where my odometer stopped about 9 months ago and I drive back & forth to GSO from Reidsville to work everyday soooo ...) It also likes to stall out at intersections. :( So I think it's time .....

Have you lived in Reidsville long? Did you go to HS there? My day lives there and I went to Roc Co Sr High and grad in 81

Nope! Grew up on the Outer Banks and moved to Reidsville in '95. Went to Salem College, though, so I was already familiar with the area.
