Anyone have any suggestions or can call to see if we can have 50+ with plenty of parking?

At this point for Roanoke we have come up with the Roanoker Resturant or a chain. The Roanoker can handle our group size but not until 7:00PM

For Banner Elk, the Italian restaurant indicated they could handle us and Zuzda thinks they can as well. I have to make a phone call t Mast Farm Inn to discuss with them. Or, we could do Stonewall's (which I understand is a buffet type place kind of like a Golden Corral).

Jeff,
Which Italian restaurant are you referring too; Sorrento's or Bella's? Bella's is in the shopping center at Food Lion, lots of parking. Sorrento's is downtown (a misnomer), parking can be found but you will have to spread out. It is higher end, and is very good. Zuzda's is very good, and everyone would find something they like. I think parking would be OK, since you can park 3 MINI's in 2 spaces. Stonewalls has a buffet type salad bar, but is not a buffet dinner (to my knowledge). Mast Farm Inn, as I understand cannot accommodate 50 at the Inn, but perhaps they can at the restaurant. The road to Mast Farm Inn, Valle Crucis from Banner Elk is a real twisty.

The Italian place is the Brick Oven. Had mixed reviews. BC (Before the Crash) there were a couple posts that mentioned Sorrento's, but I haven't contacted them yet. Mast Farm Inn wants me to get in touch with them - they said they may be able to handle us, but need some more details/info.

I don't know anything about Brick Oven, reviews I have read, like you, are mixed. From the locals comments, it is a locals place.

It seems as though our group is growing, this is a good thing, I followed up with the Roanoker Restaurant and they stated they could handle our group size but would like for us to choose 5 entrees from the menu I can't seem to get attached to this post(i know somone can help me with this) so they can serve us in some kind of timely manner.
If this doesn't work we may have to think chain
or
Fiji Island Orienatal food ........good drinks may be another choice

probably get mixed reviews from locals but I like it .

To follow up on my earlier thread about where to eat in Banner Elk: I used to travel there often enough to enjoy dining at Stonewall's which is right at the bottom of the hill in Banner Elk. It's large enough, I think, to accommodate us, has a great salad bar, and is not too upscale. Unless it's changed a lot over the years, I think it would be a good choice. I'll be glad to call them re parking/menus/prices in enough are interested!:yes2:

Ann Marie and I are going with some friends to dine a Bella's in Banner Elk tonight. We will give you a report later. It is the one place that I guarantee has enough parking. We have been to Stonewalls, Sorrentos, Zuzda's
several times, but not the others (Brickoven & Mast Farm Inn) mentioned by Jeff Causey.

fwiw, in looking at my spreadsheet, I think we are going to have the most people with us when we are in Banner Elk. I'm not sure on the number yet, but it looks like we are probably pushing 60 people for dinner that night (assuming everyone attends).

It was too pretty to spend the whole day in the office, today. So, I decided to preview the possible choices for dinner in Banner Elk area. Stonewalls has 45 parking spaces, possible overflow of 12 at Post Office behind. Sorrentos has 55, but they are shared with about 12 retail stores; most of which probably close about 5pm. There is a large overflow gravel lot, about 2 blocks away. Brickoven is at the bottom of Beech Mtn., has 22 parking spaces, with a large meadow behind the restaurant suitable for parking (if no rain). There are some businesses across the street and beside it that I don't think would be open after 5pm. It is certainly large enough to accommodate 50-75 people. They have a selection of 250 beers. They have a pool room and carpet golf. And, the drive up Beech Mountain would be a blast to drive; let the spirited drivers go first. Bella's, which I found out is closed on Wednesday's would accomodate 50-75 people. It has plenty of parking as it is on the opposite side the Food Lion parking lot. I will check out Mast Farm Inn if needed. Jeff, please advise.

Some people know how to narrow down their choices.

Based on all the feedback so far, I think our Banner Elk choices are narrowed down to Bella's, Zuzda, Stonewalls, and Brick Oven. Y'all want me to add a poll to this thread? Or someone want to make a really impassioned argument for one of these spots?

Here's my $.02 worth (did anybody ask?)
... Zuzda's is a Tappas restaurant which seems like it might be a bit hectic for 60 or more people? .. and though there is lots of variety on the menu, it's pay-by-the-piece which can get expensive (and the reviews I read said it's good, but also said it does get pricey)
... Brick Oven - 250 beer selection sounds good, although anyone who recalls our trip last year probably knows that the more important consideration is Do They Have Oranges?? :girl_wink:, as does the drive based on Greg's note ... AND ... as a further clarification, Greg's reference to "carpet golf" is otherwise known as MINI-ature golf ... :-)
(Is it obvious where my bias is .. this is not, however an impassioned argument, it's just a thought, I have not eaten at either and gladly defer to the recommendation(s) of anyone who has .. :girl_wacko:)

OK, I'm going to take it on myself to narrow our choices down to Stonewalls and Brick Oven. Please read back through the posts for comments about both. Then go vote in the poll I'm going to attach to this thread. I'll let it run through Monday evening and then we'll make some reservations on Tuesday.
Thanks!

I will cast my vote for Brickoven; more relaxed, fun drive to the destination, possibly lower cost (depending on the beer one might consume).
