Hey all,
Noobie MINI owner here. It was a BIG step for me, but I traded my '07 Honda Civic SI sedan for a beautiful Hot Orange Metallic '06 MINI Cooper S convertible w/ 12K miles.
Being a lifelong Honda guy, this was HUGE. The Civic SI was my first ever new car (I'm 39 now), and it took a lot to part with it.
Of course, I'm taking all kinds of crap from my Honda brethren "You traded your FA5 for a Neon engined, overpriced, unreliable BMW-wannabe?, etc. etc.
At least I now have something in the MINI that my honda didn't have......TORQUE! Wow, torque is fun!
Don't get me wrong, I still love Hondas (and always will), but I just couldn't pass up this deal.

I've always liked the MINIS (and orig. Minis), as they have that go-kart like feel that I've missed. I used to own a highly modified '85 Honda CRX SI w/ DOHC VTEC engine, turbo, etc. etc. and the MINI is the closest car I've driven that compares to it.

Anyway, here's some pics. of the new baby:

I'm anxious to learn more about these cars, mods available, and most importantly....meet some folks here in person at a MINI meet.....tail of the dragon anyone??? I've been to Deal's Gap about 10 times now (all with my Honda friends), but anxious to take the S there.

Any help/insight is appreciated!

Solid decision making. I also owned a few Si's in my day... I grew out of them when I finally got tired of every 16 years old with a CAI wanted to race. Now I know I can, I just don't have to.

Welcome. Also check out the August Club Blast thread. It is a picnic in Burlington and a great opportunity to see many different Minis and meet the owners.

Welcome - GREAT low mileage hot orange cabrio! My 06 cabrio has about 43,000 more miles than that!

Your stock MCS cab is "close" to your modded CRX - just wait until you see what a modded MINI can do... it's insane. Then take your buddies to the Dragon and SPANK them. Thoroughly.

Wow, thanks for the warm reception....I feel the MINI love flowing already:)
I look forward to meeting many of you at the August bash in Burlington on Aug. 8th::WOOT::

Quick question: My stock 17" wheels have 205/45/17 tires on them, and I have a nice set of 225/45/17 Sumitomo HTR ZIII's I'd like to put on the stock wheels, just wondering if they'll fit OK?

thanks!

I'm sure they will be fine as long as it's not lowered.

Welcome to the club, and welcome to "the club". I've owned a lot "specialty" cars and been in a lot of clubs and this one is the most welcoming. I've built friendships here that will resonate long after the car's gone. Look forward to seeing you at a future event!
