We will meet at Lowes Home Improvement on University Parkway in Winston-Salem like normal and drive north to the BRP and then follow it down to the Mill. I think by then it will be nice and cool and I hope the leaves will be turning and not totaly brown. I think we need to meet at 9:30 am and leave no later than 10am. Its approx. a 2 hour drive.

We will also be stopping by Lovers Leap and the Birdhouse shop.

I'm planning to be there. Weather forecast looks great.

Anyone else driving over to Winston from the Triangle area? I'll be coming from Chapel Hill unless there's a better suggestion on where/how to meet up with the group along the route.

Does anyone wanna make it a longer day? I have heard the area is beautiful and would love to go out and take some photos. Any local waterfalls, hiking, etc? I'm gonna be driving 4 hours to get there so I wanna try and stay out for a while. :yes4:

Just got confirmation and I am in, gotta find something to do after everyone else departs now. lol

There is plenty near there and north off the parkway above hwy 8

I just done some research and this is perfect! For a while now I have been wanting to visit a waterfall and I have found one right off of BRP close to the ending spot of the drive. From what I am seeing (if I am correct, if not please correct me Mark) we will be passing right by it to get to Rocky Knob.

Cascade Falls (http://www.ncwaterfalls.com/cascade1.htm) are located on BRP at mile post 272 (Jeffress Park) going north (exact location: click HERE (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?name=Cascade+Falls&city=Purlear&state=NC&country=US&latitude=36.249573&longitude=-81.454267&geocode=ADDRESS&id=14691704)).

So after the run and everyone says their "farewell until next times" I will be heading back North on BRP to the Cascade Falls if anyone is interested in joining me just let me know.

UPDATE: WOOT! Just hit 6h gear baby!

Thanks Mark! I was WAY OFF! :haha:

Well I have decided I am still gonna go to the falls after this run and I will be taking the BRP the whole way, it will take 3 hours but I have never been on the BRP so it's a win win situation for me. :) If anyone is interested in making this an all day thing, let me know. If not I will go at it alone. Pm me for the route.

I am really looking forward to the Mabry Mill, have heard its beautiful, great route Mark!

If you're headed along I-40 to Winston first from Richlands and want to caravan to the Lowe's, lemme know. I'll probably be leaving Chapel Hill around 7:45ish.

And if you like great scenery and nice driving, you're going to love the Parkway.

Turns out I won't be able to make this trip after all, unfortunately. Schedule conflict at home and also going to have to work some as well  due to a big influx of projects this week. Have an excellent trip, though. The Parkway and the route you're taking should be beautiful. I'll see everyone at MINIpalooza.

Sounds like there's a story behind that one .. hopefully it does not involve Wild&Crazy and his otter ... do tell!

(hope y'all had a blast. was a beautiful day for a drive. too bad i had to spend it sittin' in the Durham County Detention Center ...!)

(I'm escaping for beer -n- St Baldrick's next weekend tho! And MINI-palooza the weekend after, yeah! I've done my time!)

Yeah Susan, Ohbuga may have 200 mph tape holding Rodney together. Scott might be cooking rubber steaks on his manifold. My blighted MINI may have more bugs than Carter has little back pills, but at least we are not in "JAIL".

Something was burning, don't know what it was though. :meeting:

Had a great time everyone, just got home (10 P.M.). I decided to take a detour to Hanging Rock National Park for me long overdue waterfall shots. Wasen't the best falls but it was something. Will post some picks when I get them done.

Wow amazing photos!

Had a great time!

Scott now that I think about it, are you sure you weren't smelling the brakes of people coming down the hill past us?

Oh and after coming down the mountain using hwy8 I can fully recommend the Ventus V12 tires to people...felt like enough traction to flip the car in a couple turns :P

That may have been what it was cause I made the 4 hour drive home with no problems. :ms_thumbsup:

My new website doesn't allow fullsize image uploads and my flickr is full. I had to upload all the images to my gallery on a photography forum I am a mod at. You can see the gallery HERE (http://www.photographycorner.com/galleries/showgallery.php?cat=2068). I would upload the images to the gallery here but compressing the images down below 100kb's kills the IQ (even for web usage). Maybe if I'm given a gallery I could post images 1MB and less in, everytime I get to a meet I could just upload them here instead of somewhere else and linking. If you want an image of your car or self just shoot me a PM with your email and I will get it to you.
