Any insight as to how to install a S spoiler on a cooper? From what I can see on NAM it is just a matter of taking off the old one, cleaning, using double-edge foam tape and bolting back on.

Any one done this and can confirm?

I'm almost positive that's all it takes. It's virtually the same install instructions as an aero spoiler that I've looked into. The JCW is awhole different story though.

I did just the reverse, I took a 2003 MCS spoiler to install the 2005 MC spoiler
I liked the cleaner lines, opposed to the double arch look, but to each there own.
It's pretty straight forward, as you mentioned, simply lift
hatch, pop out the two caps on either side, remove screws,
(be careful not to drop them inside the hatch while removing)
Now comes the hard part, pulling the spoiler off, it's got enough two
side tape, to hold it on without the screws, I pulled so hard I thought I was going to break the spoiler off, then it started to give, (remeber to try and pull it stright off (if not the bolts will start the bend the metal where there go thru, ever though they get covered up with the other spoiler.
Then simply bolt on the MCS Spoiler. attach the nuts, and replace the caps, might double check everthing before you tighten it up.
Helps to have two people, and take your time, But you might ask Dan Zipkin, (Grassroots Garage) I believe that he done a couple I saw a couple in his Garage at the last Pulley Party.
Hope that helps......

Thanks. That is what it looked like to me, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't some secret trick.

Another trick would be cut throuth the double sided tape with dental floss or string first, then you can just remove the residue instead of all that pulling and stuff. :D
