Max Headroom

This is not only to showoff the new wheels, but also to post kudos for Discount Tire in Burlington.
After much shopping around on the web I finally decided to go with Goodyear Eagle GT tires this time round and change over to a set of Drag 23 wheels in flat black, as I had been driving with a bent wheel (pothole at speed) for a little over a year. This was going to be a bit of an image change for Max as I had a set of ten spoke glossy black with chrome lip Sport Max wheels on him since '08.
I had ordered the tires and wheels online from Discount Tire on a Monday to be shipped to their Burlington store for installation the following Friday. I had confirmation of the arrival of the tires and the wheels were supposed to be available within 24 hours of order placement. Due to a metal screw in one of my old tires Max had been sitting in our driveway with a flat for a little over a month and had to be towed to Burlington. Friday morning Max was towed to Discount Tire, where I was given some disturbing news. The tires were there, but the wheels weren't. Instead of being shipped from the warehouse in Texas the wheels were being shipped from California and wouldn't be in until Monday. Needless to say I was in a bit of a pickle. The salesman said he would make things right, and we proceeded to search catalogs for a set of flat black wheels that could be acquired from a local distributor. I settled on a set of wheels from Katana, the Ninja 02 in flat black with red trim ring, as I wanted to shoot for a five spoke wheel this go round as it took so much time to thoroughly clean the old ten spoke wheels. Here's a link to the web site catalog listing:

The Drag 23's I had ordered originally were $110 apiece, so the salesman said he would sell the Ninja 02's to me at that price even though they cost $145! When the order was called in the fellow at the warehouse said we would be please with the wheels as the catalog picture doesn't do justice to the look of the wheel in person. He was right. Once the new tires and wheels were mounted on Max the transformation was stunning! Flat black wheels give Max Headroom a bit more aggressive look, and after his first good car wash in months I can say they are a heckuva lot easier and faster to clean than the old glossy ten spokes! I've attached some photos, including one of Max when I first got the ten spoke wheels so you can see the contrast.
Needless to say I am very pleased with the new wheels, and I cannot say enough good things about the crew at Discount Tire in Burlington! Their constant focus on the customer is what makes me go back to them again and again!
