All,
The Tarheel Chapter of the BMWCCA has March 2nd-4th reserved at VIR for a driving school, and additional dates in July and September. Was the plan to attend one of these existing events, or to use the BMWCCA's membership at VIR to create our own event?
Thanks

Keep me updated as I theoretically should have my MINI back in NC for the September dates and possibly late August. I would love to attend/participate the VIR track day event.
Leaving Germany, not to mention Nurburgring, I will need to get my track time fix somehow...

We're talking to some people in BMW CCA about track time, but if anyone else has any leads or knows the right people, feel free to work on this some too. Just let us know if you find anything out so that we can start getting the word out and help with organizing the event. Thanks!

I joined Tarheel BMWCCA last year and went to 2 of their DE's. This is a top-notch group, I'd rate them as the best DE's I've been to. Stan (trackrat) is usually there with his MCS, along with NAM's Bluesmini and 1 or 2 others. They are very happy to have their little brother MINI's join and participate, I have not found anyone that was anything but friendly. Joining is $40 a year, as I recall, and they have 3 DE's at VIR per year. Join up, come on out! Most fun you can have with your clothes on! www.tarheelbmwcca.org

Hey Bullfrog, do you have any contacts within the Tar Heel BMWCCA? I wonder if we were able to get a group of 10-20 Tar Heel MINI owners to join at the same time if they would cut the cost of membership for the first year. I'd consider joining, even at $40 a year, but if they cut it to $25-30 then it would certainly help. If you know anyone that would be a good contact please let me know and I'll send an email over to see if we could work something out. Thanks!

I don't think they know who I am, other than that guy with the Silver Cooper and the binary license plate. It's actually a membership in the national BMWCCA, Tarheel Chapter, so I would doubt they do any deals that way. Their DE's are cheaper than others ($300 for VIR full course), so I look at it as a cost of the DE's. Plus you get the Roundel magazine, which is pretty good if you like Bimmers. More MINI articles are starting to show up in it, too.
I have also done www.mazdadrivers.com DE's at VIR. They have no membership fees and accept all makes, come one come all. They're pretty good, I'm signing up for the Grand course in June. They will also do VIR full course in Sept. All these things fill up fast, they don't really need to do discounts I guess.
The guy I know best is Stan, who is in Tarheel MMC too, he takes his MINI up there. He's a great guy. He was at the Tanglewood lights drive. I could be wrong, but I think he was like President of the national BMWCCA or something once.

Awesome. I wasn't sure if there would be discounts, but what you said sounds exactly right. I'd be up for joining. Maybe what we can do is gather a group of us together and register at the same time, kinda to show the THMMC wants to be a part of BMWCCA. Thanks for the info!

Here's a few VIR options coming up ---
May 5-6 Mid-Atlantic Alfa Romeo Club VIR South Course $300
MAARC limits this event to 3.5L cars or less. South is a good, tight, technical course that MINI's love. Shared with the Vintage Racers guys, which is always interesting.

June 16-17 Mazdadrivers VIR Grand Course $425
This is a good group open to all makes. Lots of Miatii. This is one of the few groups that runs the 4.2 miles 32 turn Grand Course. Longest road course in the US.

I'll be at both events, even if I have to go by myself, d@mmit !
Let's get some MINI's out there.

Hmmm...The ARC is out, b/c of MOTD. I was thinking of joining SCMC up there 6/30, but it looks like it's South Course only, and the Mazda event is full course.
You might have +1...
