:D Alright guys and gals, the 2007 MINI Coopers (R56) are soon to be unveiled!!! I wanted to start some discussion about the topic until we actually see them.
We're hoping that Flow will hold an evening event soon when they first arrive. This is not something that has been promised yet, just somewhat expected with these fun little cars. Kelvin Bratcher (Flow MINIs Sales Manager) has gone to Arizona to test the cars and has informed us that they will be arriving soon.
A number of different days are being tossed around, the 15th, 17th, 21st, etc. So at this point I'm not even speculating about when it's happening, I just know they will be delivered soon.
So, to help pass the time until our MINIs new brothers and sisters hit the streets of NC, feel free to talk about the new design in here. Do you like the "evolution" to the style, or is the new look painful for you to look at? How do you feel about the new turbo motors? Anyone out there thinking of ordering one? Just talk about whatever, and we'll be looking at them soon!

Can we possibly all motor over there and meet together on Saturday the 17th if they are going to be there or do the same one evening after they have had a chance to clean them up. It would be great to have a show of force. How late are they open in the evening?

I can't remember who said it but when we were all together at Xios in Apex, they had said that their wife said the new MINI looked like it needed to take a Benadryl, i.e. it looked like it had been stung by something and was a bit swollen.

Bwahahaha! :D That sounds like a good way of putting it. I think the new one's a little fat. Micht change my mind if I see one in person but for now I'm not feeling it.

I think BMW/MINI were smart to leave the overall design and style intact.
I find the interior, especially the speedo a little busy for my tastes.
The more robust front fascia appeals to me, it's more aggressive, especially with the mesh grills.
I had a turbo in my SAAB and loved it b/c they tuned out the lag, except in the most extreme Auto-X. It will be interesting to see how the new ones fare.
Not sure if I'll see my first one down here at Hendricks or what. There is a MINI mod day going on in Apex on the 18th, and I planned a road trip up there...hmmm, a little detour to Flow may be in order!

Have you guys seen the movies at the owner's lounge for the '07 MINI?
It's a riot, there are two of them so far, and I have two words for you: Dirk Diggler. ;-)

I'm pretty much with Griff - not really knocked out by the pictures I've seen, but may think differently once I've been behind the wheel of one.
That said, I built a BRG/W MCS w/ everything that's on my car and Rick's, since there were more things available with two different production years. The thing was $35,093  - base price on the S is 21K+.
Whatever, I'm totally there for Sunday - W00t!!! :D

Haha, are you saying he stinks, or that you'll be swept away by the wind created as Twister makes its way through the turns? Both have a good chance of being true. ;)

The only thing you'll get from standing too close to Mark is his enthusiasm. And that is NOT a bad thing. Hope to be there Sunday. Have guests arriving at 2p.m. right at the start of Daytona and the Mini test drive. It never rains but it pours:)

Well I guess I will have to be the first to comment on todays event. What a treat it was to have FLOW open just for us and to let us D R I V E the new '07s. It was so much fun and I hope that Mark will pass our comments on to Flow. I really liked the new cars especially the seats and more plush interior. I didn't get to drive the S but I don't own an S myself so it was a good 1-1 comparison. I shared the car I drove with Amy and I will say she can really drive and hung right in there with the other cars when we made multiple rounds around the roundabout. Thanks again to Mark and FLOW MINI!!!

I want to thank all of you that showed up! Kelvin was really pleased with the turn out. I did get the poster, but not to keep. It is to be auctioned off to club members only. I'll be posting it up on a thread later this week after I take a photo of it.

I want one of those Hammer & Coop lunch boxes like they had in one of the offices. Let me know if we get hold of one of those.
Thanks again for today. Now I'm a hundred times more excited about getting my R56 that I ordered. I'm not getting an automatic, but the one I drove today was the most fun I have had driving an auto.

Okay, I am going to put my two cents in! I personally didn't like the new MINI. I didn't drive it.....didn't have time to....I had to get back to Raleigh. However, for me personally it was kind of pointless. I will be more than happy to keep Emma. I don't like the bigger body...or as Mark said, the bigger butt! LOL I think the interior dash looks relatively cheap. I don't like where they have put the radio. I don't like that the headlamps are no longer part of the bonnet. And I won't even tell you what I think that the turn signals look like in the in the headlamps....let's just say it is a bit derogatory! I was more than happy to tell Emma that I wasn't trading her in for a newer model any time soon!

Thanks Mark And Flow we had a great turnout. I didnt expect to get to drive a new mini. There are things I liked and others I didnt. Liked the seats. Didnt like the radio speedometer combo. Could live with the body changes. Over all I liked the 07 however Im glad I got an 06 will be happy with it for a good while.... Thanks again Flow for having us....
