Greetings!
First off, I would like to introduce myself; my name is Rebecca Southards (call me Becky) and I am a 23 year old EMT and Med-Tech in training. I currently reside in the Pinnacle NC area (up above King) and play/work in the Winston Salem/High Point area. I am a new member to the group and also a new (to me) Mini Owner (or co-owner with the bank). I have always liked the Mini Cooper ever since I started watching Mr. Bean many many years ago; have wanted one ever since BMW started importing them in several years ago--and now I finally own one! <3 Im in Love <3 :p
I recently purchased a 2002 Mini Cooper, its nice. Has the Premium package on it-- sports seats, DSC, cruise control, moon roof etc. The only thing is, is that its solid silver with a black roof....no bonnet stripes or anything....
Now, my question to the group is this. It has always been my understanding that if you have a dark roof and dark mirrors, you need to get dark (as in black) bonnet stripes-- correct? I am itching so bad to put bonnet stripes on the car, it just doesnt look normal to me without them....
What is your opinion on the matter?
Looking forward to being in the group!!

Welcome Becky!
My thought is you can do anything as long as you like it. I have changed the decals on my MINI to many times to remember.
I did see a MINI like yours with dark red stripes with a black edge because the owner had red cloth seats in it.
If you ever want to have them put on I'll be happy to do it for free at my house. Let me know.

I would definitely say dark stripes with a black roof. That is... if you really have to have stripes. :p Welcome to the club!

Welcome to the club! There are a lot of different options on color combos/type of stripe, and an equal number of opinions hehe.
I'm on the fence regarding stripes. Currently my Dark Silver/black mcs has none, but I am thinking of putting on a wide Viper stripe down the middle in black and switching my scoop from Dark Silver to Astro Black. Alternately I may go with a bonnet U stripe in black and black scoop.
Black on either Pure Silver or Dark Silver is a very smooth look, and blacking out some of the chome bits really makes a black stripe pop. You could be completely radical though and go for checkerboard or ghosted translucent stripes. What matters most is having fun and putting on what you think looks good.

You also can buy vinyl material from your local sign shop in any color and width to make it look just like you want. I have a navy blue rag top so I added (Mark did the work) navy blue bonnet stripes on a pepper white bonnet.

Becky, welcome! As all have said, do you MINI any which way, and especially with stripes, they go on and off again easy as pie, (you just have Mark do it! ;-0)
Check out this site for striping ideas. I'm going to order something out of the ordinary from them, but don't want to give it away just yet.

I second Dave's opinion, they have some really nice designs at aesthetic creations I think they are coming to the dragon.

I have read all the replies thus far, and have to say that they have helped some!
I was on my way to work this afternoon (I work in High Point) and I saw a silver Mini, same color as mine that had a black roof, black side mirrors, and the bonnet stripes were hot! I only got to catch a brief glimpse of them, but it was the dark silver Mini, with Black Bonnet stripes with what looked like a (lighter) silver underlay, possibly white-- but not certain it was white.
I called the accessories/parts dept at Flow today to enquire (however it is spelled) about a center armrest/console for the Mini. According to the website, the armrest/console sells for $250, but the labor is the @ss kicker! $100/hr in labor costs... The guy, Dave I think his name was, quoted me somewhere in the ballpark of $650 to purchase and have the console installed! I was sorta shocked at the price, but then I thought... I am talking to a BMW dealership....
I did however mention the club's name and asked about the grille badge holder, he didnt mention anything about any discounts... I guess I will have to get onto them for that? Who knows...
So thats about it for now... I'll post pictures as soon as I get some taken...
Goodnight everyone!

We can help with installs. You need to mention to parts the club name for the discount and you need a card. I have them with me at all times. Let me know when you have time and we'll meet somewhere. I work near the Y on Hanes Mill Rd
