Not sure if anyone is interested in something such as this, but I wanted to post it just in case.

Castle McCulloch is holding the event titled: "Castle Carnavale" again this year on February 24, 2007. Castle Carnavale is a Venetian Masked Ball (a.k.a. Costume ball).

Go to : http://www.castlemcculloch.com/carnevale2007 for more info!

I went last year and had an absolute blast!! Enclosed are some pictures, then the advertisement poster for this years Ball.....

Let me know if you are interested in coming; we can get together and have a blast!

From my experience last year, to answer your question... no. You do not have to dress up medieval to attend; however that is the main garb you see. Last year, I saw some in like suits/ties, khakis/polo with masks... simple plain jane black masks; saw this one dude with a beige monkey suit roaming around with a Nazi Swatstika (?spelling?) on his sleeve wearing a WWII gas mask carrying around a 50 gallon drum that he had turned into a "drum" and was beating his drum in the drum circle tent (with the belly dancers). Saw 1 costume last year that was absolutely awesome.... This person (dont know if it was male or female) dressed up as a robot.... this thing was 9ft tall and had gears and sprockets and everything!! Some people who attended went all out on their costumes.... and some... didnt (the people in suit/tie khakis/polo). A mask is not required but its fun... I had one last year, and it well.. for a lack of better words, didnt fit right. It was one of the headband styles and was too big for my face, so I wore it on top of my head and had the ribbons flowing through my hair.

So, no... you do not have to dress in period wear.

In the picture below, this is the robot I was mentioning... Note the guy behind the robot with the psychadelic outfit

and the guy from Chernobyl

In the next picture, notice the chic on the balcony to the far left... street clothes and a mask.....

A friend of mine went and got "food poisoning" so she's not at work today. I'm kinda thinking "bottle flu" :p Let's see the pics!
