I had been asked about installing an i-Pod Interface this weekend, but I can't remember who it was. The question was if the player could be controlled with the radio.
The answer is yes. The part retails for $149.00 from the dealer. I am sure I could pass on a small discount (I do not know what my cost will be). The installation will run $50 but looks like it should take a little longer than the instructions permit.

Ok, so now that CD's are pretty much obsolete to some of us anymore....

I have a 4gig iPod Mini and absolutely LOVE it!! It holds somewhere in the ballpark of 968 songs at this current time.

I have been battling with an FM tune base arm that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and its about shot. I was reading the forums and came across this one and the idea of having the iPod interface adapter installed into my Mini to alleviate the trials and tribulations that this P.O.S. tune base is giving me.

I went searching on eBay and then over to Amazon.com. Was wondering, is this the one I need or does it have to be specific? ( http://www.amazon.com/iPAC-BMW-Apple-Interface-Adapter-Cooper/dp/B000K4YOWG/sr=1-1/qid=1171495862/ref=sr_1_1/002-5737441-1436056?ie=UTF8&s=electronics#moreAboutThisProduct )

I can get this one brand new for $104.00 + s/h.

Any thoughts, comments or concerns relating this matter would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks,
Becky S.

There is a device called the Monster charger by Monster. They run $45 but Sears had them mispriced the other week and I bought several for $11. It plugs into the lighter socket for power and also can be connected to your AUX input if you have one. Works great and certainly worth the price however your iPod cannot be controled thru the radio but gives great sound since the output is from the main connector, not the earphone jack. I will bring them with me on Sunday to the MINI event at Flow.

Hey Rog,
So if I'm understanding right, it runs from the dock connector to a 1/4 inch plug for the AUX plug? If so, that's pretty hot! I might be interested in picking up one from you on Monday.

That is correct, except it's a 3.5mm plug.

Er... wait that' s what I meant. :D
I would need one for my Dad but if the Mini owners want them let them go to them. If you've got an extra on Monday let me know. :)

Hey Becky, I haven't had a chance to welcome you to the club yet, so... WELCOME!!! :)

Anytime you need anything minor done there are plenty of club members with a decent knowledge of these cars, and I'm sure they could help. Since you work in HP though, I would highly recommend that you go meet Dan @ Grassroots Garage. He is a certified MINI tech and is very passionate about these little cars. He can install anything you need, and you'll know it was done correctly. Check his site for more info: www.grassrootsgarage.com

Drew

PS. I saw you are from Pinnacle... 1/4 of my family is from there, so we're probably related, haha!

EDIT: I also just noticed that Dan was the one that started this whole thread, and said it should be around $50 for installation.

Thanks for the info Drew, as well as the welcome to the group!

I guess I should have read the thread in more detail to figure out who was installing the adapters.... It was late last night when I posted the thread.... Lack of sleep can make you do things..... Trust me!

Thanks again!
