I have a pair of Midland's. They've worked really well so far. I don't remember the exact model# though. There are tons of places that carry them. Best Buy, Target, heck even Staples & Office Depot. I'd say just get the ones with the best range you can afford. They're all pretty compatible with each other.

Any set will do as long as you have the following:
Make sure you look for a pair that has sub channels or privacy channels/codes.
8+ mileage range
Rechargeables are nice

Just dont spend $80 on a set

I bought Cobras at Best Buy or Circuit City, they meet all of Mark's criteria and I think they were roughly $50 for the pair with charger.

If you follow Mark's advice, you can't go wrong.

I bought the Motorola talkabouts off ebay for use with the other car clubs activities and love them. If memory serves me correctly I paid $45 for them. Ialso have a Cobra CB which has the side bands and carries a little farther than the talkabouts (about 15 miles with the linear) Talkabouts are a range of 3-5 miles on a nice day without interference.

Lol.... yeah. I guess Im what some would say an ebay addict.... (but not really). I usually check there first before I look anywhere else, especially with things like that.

Do you still have your receipt? (lol) You could return those and get some just the same for probably cheaper on ebay....

This is the web address linking to the walkies I got today. I think he/she has more listed like mine:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120092493787&rd=1&rd=1

Be sure to check it out!

Never had (of lesser standard) walkies before... Used to operating off of 800Mhz frequencies and VHF and UHF frequencies with the FD's radios.... and MUCH larger (like bricks) radios.... Have a feeling I'd be a little puzzled with these smaller lesser standard (in comparison to the FD radios) walkies....

Hope the link helps someone out!

Suggestion for all with FRS radios. Get rechargeable batteries and keep them charged. When I 1st got my radios, I had the orig's in and poor Drew and I couldn't hear a thing. Put in rechargeables and they work great now.
