Any interest in a run to VIR to watch the club race? $20 a head.
Just to watch and hang out, meet the BMW brothers. :D

From their website--------

The Tarheel Chapter, BMW CCA is again sponsoring a club race at Virginia International Raceway on the weekend of April 13-15. Our club racers will be sharing the track with Vintage Drivers Club of America (VDCA). There will be practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday morning, and the feature enduro (1 hour) race Saturday afternoon. Sunday will offer more practice and several sprint races. It promises to be a good show.

Because it will be a good show, our chapter is also sponsoring an outing at the track on Saturday, April 14th. Participants in the outing will receive the following:

? Admission Pass to the track for the entire weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). This is not an open spectator event; you will need a pass to get in!

? Event Shirt (same as the Club Racers).

? Race Viewing and full access to the pits.

? Lunch is on your own??there is a nice restaurant at the track, or you may picnic.

? Parade laps on Saturday. Outing participants have the opportunity to follow a pace car through several laps of the VIR full course at a brisk pace in their own BMW or MINI (off-brands are not allowed!). Helmets are not required. You must be staged on the false grid by 11:45 am to participate. There will be a short drivers meeting. This is an outing exclusive!

? Cost for all of this is only $20 per person ages 16 and over. Children under age 16, $10, when accompanied by paying parents. Children under age 12 admitted free (but do not receive an event T-shirt).

Please respond by April 7th! PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL GROUP ACTIVITIES ARE ON SATURDAY THIS YEAR!

Ow! My arm...stop...twisting...I'm on the road and don't have my MINI event calendar with me. I may join you b/c I'd like to get a look at VIR, and this is a VERY cheap way to do it!

I'm about to post another one, for a track day at another track a week later.

Do you have to be a member of the BMWCCA? Sorry if I'm confused

Good question. I don't think you need to be a member, but I will find out.

I have the answer. Short version: MINI's are welcome to come, but to get on the track you have to be a BMWCCA member.

His reply:

"The Mini folks are welcome to join us for the outing, but they MUST be BMW
CCA members to drive in the touring laps on Saturday. This is Chapter
policy for insurance purposes. This is another perk of being a BMW CCA
member.

If they'd like to register, please direct them to our webpage and the
pertinent information. Same costs apply, and they will receive an event
T-shirt with their admission. This is not a spectator event, so the only
entry method is through the BMW CCA.

Thank you for asking, and hope to see you there."

Annual membership in BMWCCA is $40. This gets you the Roundel magazine and will enable you to get in the BMWCCA driving schools.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hey, weather be d@mned, I plan to make the 2.5hr drive just to make the parade lap!

I'll be on channel 7, heading up I85/29N between 8-11am if anybody else is going.

I'll take pics, of course and post here later. Look for me, I'll be in a MINI shirt and wearing some sort of goofy hat.
