I've never been to Dan's garage, but up until 4 years ago I lived and worked in Thomasville. I've read alot of GREAT things about Dan and the magic he does with a MINI. I know that alot of members will at some point want to make the trip to Dan's, so I thought I'd post some directions to help get you there.

The easiest way to get there, from where ever you are coming from is to get on Business I-85.

From points EAST (High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, etc..) As you are traveling Business 85, just before you get into Thomasville, you will see an 84 Lumber warehouse on the right side of the highway. At that point, get into the right lane. You will travel about another mile before you reach the exit. Just before you reach the exit, a couple of landmarks you will see to your left will be Clinard Oil Company and Old Domion Trucking's office building. I do not think the exit is numbered, but it should read something like Thomasville-High Point-PTI (Peidmont Triad International Airport). Exit to the right off of the highway. Go to the bottom of the exit ramp and turn right. As soon as you turn right off of the exit ramp you need to get into the center turn lane ASAP. Ballpark Road is the 1st left after exiting the highway. If you miss the turn its no big deal, just go past it and there are several places to get turned around. Once you turn onto Ballpark Road you will see a baseball field to your right, and you'll pass a fire station on your left. Grassroots is just past the fire station on the left side of the road. When you see a complex with several metal style building; you're there.

From points SOUTH/WEST (Lexington, Salisbury, Charlotte) You will be traveling Business 85 through the northern side of Thomasville. Traveling along Business 85, you will pass under the Hwy 109 bridge. Your exit is about 2 miles from this point. As you get closer to the exit, a couple of landmarks that you should see to your left will be Ray's Cycle Shop, Carolina Modular Home Sales, and Carolina Mattress Guild. At that point get into the right lane and prepare to exit. Take the Thomasville-High Point exit. At the bottom of the ramp turn left, and stay in the left lane. You will go under Business 85 and through a set of traffic lights on the other side of the highway. After you clear the traffic lights, get into the center turn lane. Ballpark Road will be the first street on the left past the traffic lights.

From the Winston Salem/Clemmons/Lewisville area. Your best bet is to take Highway 109 to Thomasville. Just before you get into town you will cross over Business 85. As you cross the bridge get into the left turn lane and get onto Business 85 and follow the directions above.

I hope this may help those of you who may want to visit Dan's facility.

Now for a little history lesson about the complex where Grassroots is located. All of the building that you see there once housed a NASCAR Winston Cup Team. For all of you older NASCAR fans, it was the home of the #44 Stratagraph/Peidmont Airlines Racing Team. Those are the shops that produced the cars that Terry Labonte drove from 1984 thru 1990, and from 1991 thru 1993. Those are the shops where some of NASCAR's biggest names got there start in racing, and the home of the 1984 Winston Cup Championship.

Maybe they left a little "magic" behide and Dan has tapped into it.
