Drive In Movies.....

Wanted to toss the idea out there since the weather (hopefully) is getting warmer, and I think it would be fun too.

What I want to propose to the group is the idea of all of us getting together and going to a drive in movie. The only two that I know of (unless there are others "close" by) is the one in Mt Airy and the one in Albemarle/Badin NC. I have personally been to the drive in at Albemarle, but Albemarle is (thinking) about a 2.5 hour drive for me and it would be even longer for some of the others.

Toss around the idea, see what you think... feel free to throw in some comments regarding the event and let me know so that we can get the ball rolling to have a night at the movies.... classic style.

There is one in Durham too.

The owner of the Starlite in Durham died last month, and they don't know if it will be reopened. That's the last I heard anyway.

I'd prefer to know it will be warm by the time we go. Maybe sometime towards end of May or June. When I had a jeep, I'd back backwards and either take the back seat out or turn it around and sit back there and watch movie.

I can't speak for the other drive-ins but I went to the Mt Airy one last summer. I I ended up there on the wrong Night our Mini club was going but by coincidence my Triumph club was there. It was a good time. I hadn't been to a drive-in since I was a kid.

Andy and I live within walking distance of the Eden Drive-In. We would be happy to host a little "pre-movie" get together at our house if anybody is interested.

Lets close the poll by the end of July.... That way we can set a date for mid to late August to go to the drive in movies with our cars and our club. The vote is leaning more towards the Mt Airy Drive In (Brightleaf)... So get your votes in.

Sorry I havent been on the forum as much.. been busy with moving and my job.... Its been keeping me hopping (but I cant complain)

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to note that while you guys in the Winston-Salem area may have 15 minutes less driving time to go to the Mt. Airy Drive-In versus Eden, It adds an hour of driving for myself (and unroolie julie who lives in Eden)
So if you haven't voted, maybe you could go to Mapquest and see what what your difference in driving times would be.

How was the movie? I hate that I missed it... I completely forgot all about it. I think that I ended up going up to East Bend to the Motorcross race to do a standby with my rescue squad and it didnt dawn on me that it had passed until I recieved an email with a "new post notification."

*grumbles* and I helped plan the dang thing *grumbles*
