I used to have '61 Mk1 that was slightly tweaked. Few years ago. Still have my books and catalogs.

Most people remove the fluid suspension and replace it with a "normal" one

Welcome. There's a meet coming up that is predominantly vintage Minis. I'm sure you could get some advice there and meet like minded folks.
