Just got home from work, students first day back to school and had to work late putting out all the network "fires" that sprang up around the county. It's funny... things seemed to be working so much better last week... then add ~20,000 students to the mix... hopefully see you all next week! :D

Another nice evening with all the MINI folks, till it came time to pay. That only took about 30-40 minutes to finish..Some payed more then they should have and others got off easy..At that point we just wanted out. I know I was at least, even though never got my change back.
No cops this week in the parking lot. They were waiting down 311 on the Union Cross Bridge. ( 3 motorcycle cops ) Luckly that is my exit. One of them took off down the on ramp as I got to the stop sign. I was trying to find my phone so I could try to call one of ya'll ahead to warn ya'll but by the time I found my phone in the floor board Steve said that someone behind him alittle ways got pulled over. Not sure if it was one of our group or not..

As to to "Blue Light Specials", I didn't "see" them on bridge. There was one about a 3/4mi. down the road with a SUV pulled. Just past that I saw blue lights in my review and thought geez he couldn't have gotten here that fast. and we were not speeding (at that point).I didn't think we were going fast when we went under the bridge. I think the BRG '07 mini is the one that got pulled (sorry I don't remember your name, I'm really bad at that).

It's funny that I had just been thinking that 311 has not been patrolled heavily. These were the first I've seen there in a long time. Traffic cops were out big time last night. After those on 311, there was one on 52 with a car pulled, bus 40 laying in waitand another just off Stratford. Must be quota time.

I talked with one of the managers at Liberty today and they are going to see to it that we all get home safely with free escorts for everyone!! Just kidding. Did talk to them, just to address our problems paying at the end of each evening. They are going to go over there policy's with the wait staff and see to it that we can pay in a timely and correct fashion form now on. I'm betting next week is flawless!! ;)

That being said, if we'd like to try another venue, now is the time to bring it up so everyone will know where to be next monday..One thought could be park in same place but walk over to Chilli's. Just my 2 cents..

We are definitely up for a change. For as many $$$ we all have spent at Liberty every Monday night we sure don't get anything for it (no visible appreciation at all). You would think they could at least have reserved parking like they do for the Harleys. I would certainly go for something on the Burlington side of Greensboro as it is a 45 minute ride one way to the Liberty every Monday. We could also look at meeting less often, maybe every other week if that wouldn't be too complicated to keep up with.

Hey Welcha, any ideas on where we could meet in W-S in hopes some of the others would come out. Good parking area to meet and greet before going in, and then of course a place that can handle 8-15 people sometimes more, on spur of the moment..We never know how many are going to show up..

If we don't decide soon MAYBE we can get a big turn out monday back at usual place and actually discuss it then.

Not sure on budgets, but:

For Pizza (I hesitate to say "Italian"), Pizza Hut, The Loop, Elizabeth's. The Loop Pizza Grille is a little more upscale and has beer/wine. They all have considerable parking.
There is Twin City Diner near WFU/Baptist serves typical fare - but highly considered, but not sure of the parking.

Any other ideas from Winston folks?

Big Shotz @the Lewisville/Clemmonsville Rd. exit off 421 and soon to be at Bus 40 and Stratford. This is the place we went to last April after our Dragon tune-up run.

I have a contact at Natty's. We could probably get a table upstairs on the 2nd floor. Parking might be an issue. I like McCoul's, if you want to sit outside. Besides, they have 18 beers on tap.

We met at the Fox and Hound in W/S once. It was good.

Another great place is Red Robin that is easily accessable. Just talked with someone in the office and it good great reviews. This is probably no more than 30 minutes for either Burlington or W/S people.

Well heck, even though I've yet to make it to one of the "meetings"; too much other stuff to do during the summer months, I'll throw my $.02 in on this one. But, hopefully as summer draws to an end, I'll be able to make some of the meets.

I'm just thinking "out loud" here so bare with me as I post some thoughts.

I agree with N2MINI with the idea of every other week. Seems these days, there just isn't enough hours in a day to do everything you want or need to get done. An every other week schedule may help bring in more attendance.

Considering today's economy in our area of the world, some folks just may not have the extra money to go out and eat/party every week at a moderate priced resturant. By cutting back to a couple a times a month, it may put those folks in a better position to attend.

Could another night of the week be a better night to meet? I know from experience, that Mondays can be one of the most hectic days at work. Sometimes when you finally get home, all you want to do is chill; you don't really feel like going anywhere.

As for locations, there are a couple that I can think of that may be up for consideration.

The Sagebrush Steak House in Kernersville. It is right beside of Business 40, about an equal drive for those coming from G-Boro, Winston, and High Point. They have a meeting room in the rear that will hold several folks. Its been a while since I've been in the meeting room, but I'd guess it would hold 30-40 people with no problem.

Another place that I'm been to club meetings such as this, is the Omega House on Peters Creek in Winston Salem. They to have a large meeting room that would more than accommodate our group. The menu is anything from, steaks, seafood, pasta to home cooking. I know there are other local clubs that meet there on some nights, so we would need to check their schedule. My wife and I eat there 2 or 3 times a month and have always been pleased with the service, food and price. However, I don't think they sell beer. The Omega House it located half way between I-40 and Business 40 on Peters Creek Parkway. Close enough to Flow Mini, that maybe some our MAs could drop by and eat with us.

Ok, now for something that has bothered me for a while. I AM NOT CONDEMNING ANYONE, so please do not take it a such. Back in my younger-single days, it wasn't unusual for me to go out 3 or 4 times a week to eat and party with my friends. I've driven many times after drinking several beers, and was lucky enough not to have been caught. But as I have grown older and wiser, I look back and think how lucky I was not to have been caught, or worse yet, not to have caused an accident that could have killed me or someone else. I'm not telling you not to go out and have a great time, and if you want to drink thats your business. But PLEASE be careful if you get behind the wheel of your MINI after drinking. With all of the talk of drinking and driving that has been in the media lately, I would hate to see something happen to one of our members. With the discussion of the Police being present at some of the past meetings (in the parking lot and on bridge overpasses), it makes me wonder if they aren't looking for something or someone.

I would have to agree with WSCRUISER. He has a very good point. In this day and age, these issues are given much greater scrutiny, and looked upon much more harshly, than in my younger years. I'm all for a good time and a beer; having seen and experienced what I have just makes me wary/cautious. We just need to be very careful, because no one ever plans for the unexpected.

As for the K'ville location, that sounds good to me.

I can tell you working for law enforcement that drinking/driving is a priority. The state provides grant moneys to local law enforcement specifically to hire LEO's for the purpose of enforcing these traffic laws.

On another note, one place that i think is reasonable and has great food and beer is Finnegans Wake. It is an irish style pub in downtown Winston. Not real sure how parking is down there at night as I have only been in for lunch but they have some of the best food around and great atmosphere. Its located at 620 N Trade St.

So far at every monday meeting that i have been at ive never seen anyone drink more than a beer or 2. However we do need to be a little more carefull... Well as usual there is no way to please everyone. Which is the only reason I tossed out the idea of moving it around from town to town. Realisticly Liberty has been good. We show up with between 10-20 people and get seated in a timely fashion. Have had a few problems paying which is why I called them on Tuesday, and they said they'd take care of it. As you'll know I get the same thing everytime, so the menu is not a problem for me. I know some others would like a change on that part of it.. I can see both sides of it. Like Vango, I kinda like knowing it's at the same place so you don't have to look to see where we are going, but trying new parts of town might get some new people involved. That being said if we do decide to say try a place in Clemmons one week, we will be counting on some of the local MINI people coming out to off set the ones from G-boro and beyond that probably won't make that trip. If they don't, we'll be forced to go another direction. Same thing in G-boro. Where ever we can get the best turn out is the place to be..
Be nice to hear from some of the other regulars on what they'd like to do. We have a couple wanting to move around or atleast try another place.

The other concerns beer and police: Like Vango mentioned nobody has more then 2, some 1, some none. The police, could be anywhere at anytime. I don't think they were looking for us. If so they could have had 4 MINIs all running about 75 MPH, and I drove right to them off the exit they were sitting on.. Haven't heard from the guy that might have gotten pulled to know if he did for sure. Yes we all need to be safe..

You guys aren't going to believe this, I ended up going to Liberty tonight AND I BROUGHT MY WIFE!!! She was off today doing some shopping in Greensboro, so I left work a little early and met her in Greensboro. We ended up staying later than we expected, so we went ahead and drove down to Liberty... we ran into Terri and Les (hope I got their names right) who drive the orange (or is it tangerine?) convertible Mini with the 'TWO FUN' plate and so it ended up just being the four of us.

So my "imaginary" wife is no longer "imaginary". She's been spotted with me in public, I have witnesses. :p:D;)
