What kind of music do you listen to? Know any cool bands no one's heard of? Looking for new music in a particular genre?
Lately I've been listening to a lot of rap/hip-hop. Must be the speakers. :D
Talib Kweli
Kanye West
I listen to just about everything though. Except country.
Miles Davis this AM
new Madonna on the way home form work
all kinds of stuff. I like variety.
So what are you listening to?

HIM is a hard rock band from Finland. Their style ranges from dark and heavy to light and melodic. They have a somewhat gothic feel to them. If you have ever watched Jack**** Viva La Bam, or the CKY videos.. their music has been featured quite often as Bam Margera is a die-hard fan of them.
The way I have described them to friends is if some of the hair metal or hard rock bands from the late 80's and very early 90's had survived, been repackaged, and given a darker sound.. they might have sounded like HIM. But that probably isn't the best description.
If you think you would be interested, I can burn you a cd with a mix of good songs from them and bring it to the next meet/drive. Just let me know.
Cheers!

And as for Faith No More and Mr. Bungle.. I am a die-hard Mike Patton fan (the singer of both bands) and have tons of stuff by him (he has been in many bands and been a guest artist on many albums). He is an odd guy who has many different styles and tastes. The music he did with Faith No More and Mr. Bungle back in the day sounds nothing like what he does now. However, much if his current stuff leans towards experimental music and noise... and is not for everyone.

Sounds good. If you get a chance a quick mix would be cool. I've been interested for a while.
I'm a huge Nine Inch Nails fan. Have been since I saw them and Marilyn Manson over in Winston a long, long time ago. I've also been into the White Stripes a lot lately. They just have an old sound but it sounds more modern it's very odd. But good rock n roll.

I'm beat. I only have around 10 gigs converted or so, but that's a very small portion of my CD collection. I've actually noticed that the les I have on my iPod the easier it is to navigate in the car. I only have around 6 GB on the iPod at any given time. Guess I could get a nano and cut the fat a little more. It's either that or get a 60GB video and use my 15GB for the car. Decisions, decisions...
What kind of stuff is in you guys top 25 played songs?
Kanye West
Jack Johnson
White Stripes
NIN
Linkin Park
Other misc. stuff from a mix I made I listen to all the time.
That top 25 playlist is the quickest way to see someone's tastes.

I will have to go back and check mine. I have quite a few mp3s that are not loaded into my library at the moment. I think I will do some clean up and organizing this weekend. At last count I think I had around 13,000 - 14,000... so it sounds like you've got me beat!!!
Is there one particular style that makes up most of your collection? I would say that rock and jazz make up most of mine, but there are many other genres in there as well.

I love these discussions! Seems like there are a lot of similar tastes in here. I have always wondered what other MINI drivers were listening to as they drove by. Here are the people in my library that haven't been listed yet:
10,000 Maniacs
Erasure
The Smiths
Michael Penn
Jeff Buckley
New Order
Stellstarr
The Killers
Garbage
The Ramones
Gonna have to give some support to Inquisitive One on this - I don't like country music. :p

No country for me either. But I like most of the bands that people have listed so far. Cool to see other people who listen to lesser known bands like Nightwish, Stellastarr, etc.

No country here either. I think I may have 1 Garth Brooks song on my iPod but that was for my mom and I to dance to when I got married.
Lately I've been listening to the OC mixes. They are really diverse and have a lot of unknown bands and stuff.

I bet I'm the only deadhead :p
I'm strictly old school psychadelic with a bit of "bluegrass", jazz and blues for good measure.
The Grateful Dead
The Beatles
Jefferson Airplane
Cream
Doc Watson
Peter Rowan
David Grisman
Bela Flek
The Doors
Led Zeppelin
Big Brother & The Holding Co.
Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Ray Charles
James Brown
Muddy Waters
Howlin Wolf
The list goes on & on... I followed the Grateful Dead around from 89-95, saw my first GD show in 79. I have been collecting live Grateful Dead and other bands for about 20 years and have probably 2000 live concerts on reel to reel, casette, DAT, CDr & DVDr.
*Note.... there is a very fine line between bluegrass & country. I can't stand country... I love bluegrass.

Just picked up the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers album and it's getting better the more I listen to it. :D
Also been on a Nine Inch Nail's B-side kick. Listening to a lot of old remixes I haven't pulled out in a few years.

I am all over the place when it comes to music. I just got Rammstein's Volkerball. And I am also really into Robbie Williams right now....yeah, he is a pop artist but I just can't figure out why he hasn't made it over here in the states....his popularity over in the UK is unreal. But I also like the Dead, Pink Floyd, Queen, Metallica, Eminem.....it's really hard to pin me down to a genre! LOL I am just all over the place!
