I am going to put together an event for the third Saturday in April in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina. The Lenoir Downtown Cruisers http://lenoircruisers.com will start off the season the first Saturday in April.I would like to take a ride from Hwy 268 to Buffalo Cove,Deep Gap,Triplett and thru Leatherwood Horsemans assoc. to Stations Inn Motorcycle Resort http://stationsinn.com for food spirits and a pit stop. Then we will ride the Blue Ridge Parkway to Boone @ 321 and back to Lenoir. The ride should take at least 3 hours and car show starting @ 4:00 in Downtown Lenoir. If there is enough interest I can see if Chip will dedicate an area for just Mini's.Feedback and any help will be greatly appreciated. 8949

From the first post, I'm confused .. is it the 1st Saturday in April, or the 3rd?
Click CALENDAR, Add New Event and add it to the calendar, too ...
Sounds like fun ..

You might want to check out the original post I made for the Turkey Stroll Rally (http://www.tarheelminis.org/showthread.php?7216-11-19-11-Turkey-Stroll-Rally) that we did in November. I can fix your thread title once the date is clarified (as I note the Lenoir Cruisers website indicates their events are held on the first Saturday of each month). I would highly recommend that you look over the format of the post for the Turkey Stroll Rally and add some similar details - specific wheels up time, address for meeting place, etc.
On your route, I'm not sure how the run up through Deep Gap and Triplett fits in with the run to the Stations Inn. So I put together a route for you (see below). Moved the starting spot down into Hickory (closer to a major road, eg Interstate 40, the better) to a Walmart parking lot so you'll have plenty of parking space while people wait, then up through Wilkesboro to the Stations Inn via Hwy 18, back down the BRP, then some backroads back into downtown Lenoir (mostly avoiding 321). Here is a link to the Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=US-321+N%2FHickory+Blvd&daddr=36.01462,-81.40352+to:36.07572,-81.39055+to:14355+Nc+Highway+18+S,+Laurel+Springs,+NC+28644-8140+%28Station%27s+Inn%29+to:36.35244,-81.3724528+to:36.2597376,-81.4428106+to:Elk+Creek+Rd+to:36.1431579,-81.4997061+to:Main+St+NW&hl=en&ll=36.121237,-81.366119&spn=0.951779,1.325226&sll=35.778097,-81.392169&sspn=0.029873,0.041413&geocode=FaHtIQIdCgEm-w%3BFRyKJQIdgOEl-yndf1NpFhlRiDE8JTC9iBWBpQ%3BFch4JgIdKhQm-ynXiKfLrxtRiDFF8v0R9sD6BA%3BFYVOKwIdXkoo-yFpMsPKW6zNlCnbgTiQ86NRiDGHRD4Wj8WXpQ%3BFbixKgId3Fom-ynluRq7-qhRiDFzvCEm6uEwlw%3BFZlHKQIdBkgl-ynPaLFL2ABRiDEoSZrSGXzXow%3BFUS5KAIdgEMj-w%3BFTWAJwIdxmkk-ymF_nu9sAJRiDGm8Cunu9I20g%3BFU4EJAIdKM0j-w&vpsrc=6&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=15&via=1,2,4,5,7&t=m&z=10) route if I got it wrong and you want to tinker around with it. Once you have it finalized, I'll be glad to try to convert it to a .gpx file for those with Garmin GPS units (need the practice with Basecamp and the new Trip Planner format for the newer units).
And depending on my schedule, hope to be able to make this event.

Thanks for any help you can give me,I noticed the same thing on their site but it is the 1st and 3rd Saturday. As far as changing the route that will be fine but the route thru Deep Gap would be more memorable and exciting, this is my back yard I travel these roads often.Like I said Ive never tried to create an event before, thought I would see if there is any interest before setting times and convenient meeting places.

An unfortunate turn of events, due to Chip having knee surgery the Lenoir Cruisers wont start there shows until May,and since the show was a big part of our ride I will try to reschedule at a later date.
