Hotels in Charlotte - The Cure

Hey Everybody -

The Cure is coming to Charlotte in September, we got our tickets last night, but I need a room for the night. Coming back from FL we stayed on what I believe to be the southern end of Charlotte - it was scary!!

Where is the nice part of town? Should we just stay in the Lake Norman area - or is there something closer to the Colosseum that is clean and safe?

HI I just took my daughter to see John Mayer this past week at Verison Amp in Charlotte. Not sure where your show is (Bobcats Arena? - They tore down the old coliseum..If it is Ovens...it is downtown.) but we stayed 4 miles (or less) from that venue at the Embassy Suites near the Speedway. It is brand new and right off I-85. I tend to like to stay in Hamptons or the Embassy because they are all decent places to stay with breakfast provided....This hotel is cheap by Embassy standards and extremely nice. A safe area next to Concord Mills Mall...lots of places to eat...There are many other places to stay but I like downtown or the North side. The Hampton downtown is walking distance to the Bobcats arena and close to other venues. Downtown is very nice. We saw the Rolling Stones as the Bobcats arena opened and walked from the Hampton downtown. It is maybe 3-4 blocks and safe to walk. Hope that helps. I know a few other places but it depends on how close you want to be. Where ever you stay book early as hotels can be very booked on weekends. And watch for Pro Sports being in town...that would be a mess....

Pro Sports - yeah, that WOULD be a mess...and one I hadn't though of considering!!

It is at the Bobcats' arena...I didn't realize they tore down the coliseum, I saw U2 there several years ago and just said, "oh they're in Charlotte, must be there.".

Thanks for the info, I like new and right off I-85 is even better. I'll have to reevaluate how close we want to stay because I don't know where the arena is located, but I'm down with Embassy Suites and Hamptons for the exact reasons you cited.
