I'm very varied. I drive cautiously with someone else in the car but pretty spirited by myself.

I was pulled over for the first time since '98 and given a *summons* for reckless driving, one week ago last Friday. I was going 75 in a 55 - here in VA, 20 over is reckless, I was just informed over the weekend that reckless in NC is only 15 over  At the time, I didn't even realize I was going that fast, I was on a four lane highway (460) in Bedford County, driving to one of our field offices to fix a problem the users were having. A co-worker in my department had just informed me that the "emergency" that our boss told us about the night before was that his daughter had been killed and I guess my head was in other places. I came to a stop light and looked in my rearview as I was pulling through it and there was an unmarked car with the lights on the dash flashing, I pulled over and he asked me if I had not seen him. Apparently, he had been after me for more than 1/2 mile (or at least this is what reconstructing the story for others has led me to believe), so he leaves to write the ticket...er summons, and I look in my rearview and there's a marked state trooper behind him!!

So, long story a little shorter, I have an appearance in Bedford County court on 3/24 and I have no idea what to expect. I have slowed down, but there are still times when all I want to do is go fast and chew up some road.

Ok, so yeah... I admit; I have a lead foot. I am currently looking into joining L.F.A. (lead foot's annonymous) <just kidding>

The car I had before, a 1998 Ford Mustang V-6, wasnt too hard to keep speed in. My average speed in that car was... 75 in a 65 zone- maybe. Since I got the Mini, I find it hard to feel the speed muchless tell the difference in the scenery blowing by.... Your driving along, looking at the trees and the other cars coming up on the highway and think... Im doing between 60-65mph..... the reality hits when you look over at the speedometer and you see that you are going 85-90mph!! You let off the gas pedal, saying to yourself "Oh Snit" and cruise on back to normal speed, only to drive on and acclerating back to your previous cruising speed of 85-90 without even realizing it.

Even though I am new to the Mini, and havent quite gotten used to the "feel" of the car (as in speed wise), I have noticed that these Mini's are more "soundproof" than other cars. (or at least in comparison to my Mustang).

--lost train of thought--

In conclusion, all I can say is THANK GOD FOR CRUISE CONTROL!!!!

These days I stay mostly within 15-20 miles of the speed limit :D Unless of course there is heavy traffic, then I just flow with the rest of the crowd.

I will say I have lost my license more than once for speeding  but that was when I was a teenager and was driving a cherry red 73 Nova SS with a bored out 350ci, tunnel ram, dual 650cfm carbs, custom dual glasspacks, exhaust cutouts, and magnesium racing rims sitting on 50 series tires in wheel tubs. Top speed on that baby was around 140mph before the front end would get kinda loose. ;)

I have never been pulled over in my MINI.....and I do drive well over the speed limit in it. Before I had the MINI, I drove a Toyota Celica and about a month after I bought it, I was on my way to Washington, DC with my best friend to a Rammstein concert and we were on US 1 leaving Raleigh. I got pulled. At the time, I lived in Willow Spring, which was about 45 minutes from where we were at. Even though I KNEW where I was at, I played dumb when the cop asked me if I knew what the speed limit was....it was 45 and I was going 55. I just told him "No sir. I'm sorry, I'm from Johnston county. We are just on our way to Washington, DC. I am not quite sure where I am at....I am just following directions." He let me off with a warning! LOL ;)

I try to stay around 5 to 10 over however my 0 to 60 time is very short. I have had 1 ticket in the mini. It was in High point I had made a wrong turn and after turning aroung and trying to make up the time I flew by 2 High point PD officers doing 55 in a 35. Trying to be a little more carefull now.
