BRP Foundation RIDE badge attempt

OK, don't ask me why, but I've been fiddling around trying to figure out how to make some of my own badges. I had originally started to make one for the MMB ride we did a couple weekends ago, but ran out of time. So as an experiment to see how scratching this itch would work out, I decided to make a RIDE badge. It was probably the minivan we saw at the Sonic with the RIDE license plate combined with Sandy having pins that got me to thinking a badge might be nice to have, especially since so many of us do not have front plates.

Anyway, below is a sample of what I managed to put together. I printed off a sheet of six, so I have some extras if anyone wants one (though I'm going to reserve at least one of those for Sandy). If several of the BRP folks want one, I'll print some more off.

Nice work, Jeff! I'm heading the other direction, just stripped it down except for the sides, so far, including the "Just call me Razz" sticker--funny how you have a knack with car embellishments and nobody's admitted to that one yet...hmmm... ;-)

Well, yesterday I went out and bought some clear lacquer spray paint stuff to put on the magnets. I suspect that since they are done on an inkjet they won't hold up to water. I've actually got one being subjected to some tests right now and it looks like my suspicions are correct. Will post a pic when I finish that test.

In the meantime, I had gone ahead and sprayed one yesterday and had it on the front of my Mini pending its own waterproof-ness test. Alas, looked out the window and realized it is MISSING! :( I only drove to and from church this morning. Now I'm worried the magnet sheets I got are inadequate to hold onto a badge holder.

So I sprayed another one a little while ago and in the process messed it up (must have held the spray can still for a fraction of a second too long). But, should be able to test for waterproof-ness in another day.

I guess while I continue to work on materials and testing, I can work on some new designs.

Sometimes people take badges and antenna balls off of MINI's. Would not say for certain thats what happened here, but something to think about.
