07/18/2009 - Cooper Vineyards MINI event

Hey Tar Heel MINI's, I got an email from Jacque of Cooper Vineyards saying their MINI Cooper event is scheduled for July 18. Last year there were well over 100 MINI's there. Not to mention some great wine tasting (and buying) and good vendors and music. The fine folks at River City MINI's had a great spirited run from the west side of Richmond over to the vineyard. I was amazed at the roads they found outside of Richmond. Very twisty! Last year 10 bucks got you a shirt and wine tasting and a glass to keep (had MINI's on it to boot!). If for some reason River City doesn't do their run, we'll have something set up by Hampton Roads Club MINI.

We went last year and it was a nice event. The $10 cost also included a great BBQ lunch! It is a small place. Was neat to see the whole place packed with MINIs. Hope to see you there.

The website doesn't have times up yet. Do you think it will be 11-5 as the next two events are?

I'll find out for you and let you know Monday. I'm heading down for the Bullfrog Run at the moment.

But if memory serves me right, we got there about 11 and it was pretty packed then. We left around one for another commitment and there were still MINI's coming in!

Conversation about this event came up on the Covered Bridge Run yesterday .. I've put it on my calendar and bought my ticket on line (save $5 by purchasing in advance .. ) .. who else from Triangle/Triad has it on the radar?
With a late AM start it could be either a day event or maybe overnight (hmmm .. the night before? or perhaps more necessary for Saturday night! )

We have purchased tickets, as well. We'll go to Richmond Friday and spend that night and Saturday night at a B&B we like.

Got an email from Cooper Vineyards yesterday. Event is 11-5, but we got there about 10 AM last year and it was already pretty packed. We left at about 4:30 and there were probably still 100 MINI's there. They didn't advertise in MC2 this year due to lagging sales, so there may not be as many cars as last year, but I wouldn't count on it. Crown MINI from Richmond is going to be attending again, but I understand they won't have as much of a display as last year. If you're on the fence, I still think it's worth the trip. Don't forget to buy your tickets in advance.

It looks like it would only be about an hour drive to waynesboro, where we could hop on Skyline drive for a post BRP fix if anyone is interested! I was thinking we could get rooms there for the night and continue where we left off. What do you think?
