My Classic Mini build thread!

Hey all, haven't met any of you yet but my Classic Mini is coming along quite nicely. A few more weeks and another dumpster of money and it will be on the road. Looking forward to meeting you all once the car is done!

Specs:
The car: 1979 Classic Mini. I believe the car is "newer" than what the title states but no way to be certain.
Motor: Came with a 998cc motor. It has been pulled and a rebuilt 1275cc will be going into it later this week
Paint: Originally a lighter British Racing Green with white roof. The new paint is a much darker green/close to black with matching roof.
Wheel/tires: The ones in the pictures are the original 12x5 inchers. A new set of 12x5.5 Minilites are in the garage ready to go on it
Interior: Stock interior pulled out, nearly everything is being replaced. Corbeau A4 racing seats, harnesses, full black dash, new carpet, yada yada.

I will post pictures as the car is finished. Just thought I would show my (car's) face before I make an appearance at a club event!

Body work started after old engine yanked out. LOTS of body work done, panels replaced. There was plenty of rot going on but has been sorted now!







Primer goes on (old doors still attached)- new ones painted off the car





New paint! Interior is still rubbish though, engine will be in and running by weeks end. Will post more pictures soon!

its crossed my mind. since you are a classic owner, im sure you have priced the cost of a second tank... not cheap! :)

Yeah.. I was fortunate to part out a Mini back in the 80's that had a second tank... I got the tank and seats out of that car.. finding a tank I am sure is highly desirable and hard to find reasonably these days.

Yeah, they make repro's but they will run you about $500 from the UK. Lord knows what the retailers here in the states want for em, probably double the amount.

Stopped by the where my engine work is being done after my car was towed over there today. Engine is almost done being detailed and will be in the car by weeks end. Heres a photo of the way it sits before it goes in the car.

Just an update... waiting on the slave cylinder to come in, which will be Tuesday. Thats the last piece I need to get it drivable and home from the engine shop. When I run out there to pick it up, I will be working much more on it than the paint/engine shops have been so more pictures/updates to come. REALLY anxious to get it home and spending the evenings after work in the garage!

Who is doing your engine work? I have a spun cam bearing that needs to be R&Rd. That and I need to go get it out of storage in NC:(
