MSSD 2011 - October 21st - 23rd

I was just asked about this event and if we were going or not. (After this past weekend and bringing a "Dragon virgin" with me, she's now hooked and wanting to go back)

I found this information helpful and wanted to pass it along to whoever may be interested....

By the looks of it, Fontana is a bit out of our budget. If we can go, we'll probably be staying somewhere listed on this website:

You can get a room with a king size bed at Fontana for $79 a night. Mention MSSD & Tar Heel MINI club to get that price. Hope that helps.

Well we just decided, we're coming back down to NC in October! We liked the Hickory/Conover area so much that we want to see it in the fall! We will be coming down the weekend before and stay till the following Monday. We'll get to the Fontana friday afternoon sometime.

Ben & I will drive over on Saturday for the day, if you'll just tell us where to meet everyone. We have two dogs and live in Asheville, so we can't stay at Fontana since our normal "babysitters" will all be out of town that weekend. But that just means we'll have to drive part of the Hellbender to get out there to meet everyone. Oh, dang - don't throw me in that briar patch! <G>

Drove the Dragon for the first time two weeks ago, and it was fun - looking forward to doing it again with you guys in October!

So I am pretty sure I can make it to MSSD 2011!! I just need to chat with the boss peoples to verify I am off during that time. According to my schedules I am, which means I can drive home, get my car re-registered and inspected, and then hit Fontana on the way out. Yesssss!

I've reserved a room at Fontana for my son and me to come. Now we're signed up for both MINIpalooza and MSSD. Is there a signup on MotorsportReg.com for MSSD? I looked but didn't see one.

I haven't booked a room yet and probably won't until about 1-2 weeks out. If I can't get a room I'll probably just rough it and use the camp grounds. Does anyone know if the Fontana Village is a pet friendly place? I looked at the website and didn't see any info. I suppose I should just call.

I second that. I normally don't go anywhere with my Labrador and the website mentioned nothing about the rooms being pet friendly. We might be busting out the Big Agnes at the campsite too. If that's the case, I can try out my new jet boil. :D

I made my reservations yesterday! This will be my first time slaying the dragon and I am really excited about it. Can't wait until October. For the pet questions, here's what was in my confirmation email about pets.

Pets are not allowed in the rooms located in the Lodge complex. If you intend to bring a pet, please be sure to check with your reservations agent to make sure the accommodations you have reserved allow pets. For those who do bring a pet, there is a fee of $150.00 per pet. This fee is non-refundable.

Hi. I'm from Florida and new on this forum. When I found out I had to miss MOTD this year I knew I had to join you all at MSSD. Have wanted to come for the past couple of years but just haven't been able to make it. This year I HAVE to come! Have to get my Dragon fix! I'll be bringing a couple of my SSM co-horts with me. Hope you don't mind. Already have a cabin reserved. Is there anything else I need to know? Haven't read thru the related threads yet. Sign up lists? Schedule of events? I can't wait!!!!

No sign up list really, and not much is scheduled, but that is on purpose. It's a more laid back atmosphere compared to MOTD in the spring.
Kinda do what you want when you want.
There will be some kind of Welcome Dinner on Friday afternoon/evening, there is a group maybe going ziplining Sat, ( there is a thread for that ) as time gets closer there might be a drive or 2 on Sat for whoever wants to go. Other then that just do whatever you and or your friends would like. ( Start your own Sat Drive thread maybe ) drive here or there, play frisbee golf, etc..
