Nervous!!!!

So I let my dad test drive my mini today after all the mods I have put in it, well with all the fun at going fast my dad forgets to watch the tachometer and I looked and it was hitting 7000rpm.....I freaked out, now I'm still worried and scared....I've heard a lot of cars blowing up with over-revving and I don't want my car to blow up or get damaged. I'm young and this is my first car and I'm nervous and I don't know what to think....am I over thinking things please help explain to me the factors because I'm loosing my mind thinking about my car....I'm freaking out.

The good thing is you have a rev limiter that keeps things like what you are fearing from happening. If your car isn't tuned, your limiter should be around 6800 rpm. Tuners will move that up to 7200 rpm. While it isn't good to always go up that high, your dad hitting it once or even a couple of times isn't going to cause anything to have an issue.

I use the rev limiter as a poor mans shift indicator .
