2015 The Great Ice Cream Run 5

The GREAT Ice Cream Run 5 a.k.a (TGICR5) - another Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club adventure dedicated to MINI Owners who love motoring AND love ice cream!

The Great Ice Cream Run are back. We normally begin the ice cream run from Staunton, VA and heading north to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, ME. For 2015, the ice cream run will be heading to a new destination, Mackinaw City, Michigan. At the end of the run, our group will join up with other MINIacs for the MINI On The Mack (https://www.facebook.com/events/931175406911254/) event in Mackinaw City on Aug 1st. In addition to the awesome motoring and at least 2-3 ice cream stops daily, we will be visiting the New River Gorge, the Air Force Museum and the Ford Museum along the way to our destination. So mark your calendar July 26 - 30 for the Great Ice Cream Run 5. You can do the entire run or just join us for a day or two as we pass through your area.

Hi Ron,

Happy new year to you and Lee. Good to hear from you. Please let me know nice twisted roads or other ice cream stops along the way.

Hey Jak, not sure if you know or there's time but you're driving right by The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV where you can take a tour of the Congressional bunker there. It's quite interesting and might be a unique photo opportunity if nothing more than a quick stop. Food is fantastic as it's a 5 star hotel, much similar to The Mackinaw Inn in MI IE grand old hotels of America. Nice work on the planning.

Thank you for suggestion Ross. I saw that on Google map of a great big hotel in the middle of nowhere. Hope you can join us at some points along the way to Mackinaw City.

PS I've just been informed by my Navigator that you need to make sure to have reservations ahead of time and I think it's like $20 per person. Not cheap, but very interesting. Navigator took her Mom last year after I set it up. I still have to go! Hope I can make some peices of the run at least Jak. PS 3 hours at the USAFM in Dayton will pass very quickly. Go online and learn about the Museum and it's collection. Figure out your Must See planes. The XB-70 VALKYRIE is it for me. Along with the B-2 bomber aka Flying Wing. You will not have time to make it to the annex. Do your homework, make it count. It's one of The Best Aviation Museums in the world! I'm happy to help you with planning there. I've been there at least 25 times. My in-laws live nearby and I used to live there too. PPS The Air Force Museum is FREE FREE FREE
