View Full Version : Minis in the Ozarks (MITO)

Hey all! Susan, Troy, and I came out to Arkaksas to represent the east coast Mini community (and avoid the storm). We had a great time out here in the Ozarks and in the town of Eureka Springs. There were 100+ MINIs present + 4 classic Minis. Here are a few of my pictures.

Thanks for posting and the photos, JD .. and for anyone curious who is reading this thread, I'll add the following ..

this event was on my MTD (MINI To-Do) list for 3 years and it was absolutely phenomenal .. add it to your MTD list, seriously .. JD took the "hard" way to get there (stranded for 2 days pending car repairs) still got there in time to enjoy the events on Saturday .. but I can add, Thursday night Welcome Dinner & BBQ -- $20 per person, all inclusive including beer and wine, very well attended .. very friendly and inviting group. Friday had choice of several very well run and organized drives .. Friday night an impromptu drive lead by Dustin (Auto X Cooper) where we will not discuss the specifics except to say that it was not for the faint of heart and headlights were in fact, left on ..

Saturday, Halloween dinner and party .. out of 265+ attendees, I believe 200 were dressed up .. and some funny, amazing, original costumes .. it was the non-driving highlight of my trip .. again, $25 per person inclusive (including beer)

The event is booked at the Inn of the Ozarks as the host hotel for the next several years. There are 127 rooms. EVERY ONE of them this year was occupied by MINI people and are reserved for same in coming years .. put it on your calendar, really.

Our 18 hour speed run back to NC commencing at 6:30am Sunday morning turned into a 20 hour drive due to weather issues caused by Frankenstorm Sandy, but I would do it all again tomorrow ..

Seriously, put it on your calendar. You want your Pig Trail sticker/hat pin/grill badge, you know you do ..

(I originally posted about this event here and will post a similar thread about next years event as soon as more details are known: http://www.tarheelminis.org/showthread.php?8346-MINIs-in-the-Ozarks-October-25-28-2012)

I've heard a few of you say you were putting this on your agenda for 2013 .. the registration is now open today (was supposed to be April 1st) .. and for anyone sitting on the fence (how could you be after reading my review of this event on this thread??? http://www.hrmini.com/forums/Smileys/phpbb/003.gif) here is a link to an MC2 Magazine article about last fall's event .. tho I have too many places to MINI to and too many things to see, I'm leaning toward going back .. especially if that long caravan includes some of my THMMC MINI friends!

For 2013 dates are Oct 24 - 27th.
Mark your calendars, seriously .. especially if you really dig Halloween parties ..

2013 MITO event .. this thread originally posts about the 2012 event, but most of the same holds true for this year. Dates Oct 24-27. 2013 .. anybody else from THMMC attending? I see one NC registered under the name of austintatious13, but I'm not sure who that is .. there's a half dozen of from HRMINIs attending and co-ordinating a caravan .. any others from NC have plans?

Two of us from VA are headed down. Would be good to hang out with a few THMMC members too!

Making my plans ... I assume the HR MINIers headed east after the event will leave out Sunday AM and stop over Sunday night? Post where (what city) for Sunday night and we'll join you on the return (can't co-ordinate on the outbound since some if you lucky people will spend the whole week in Eureka Springs and some of us won't arrive til Thursday :sorrow:) ... assuming a Hillbillies Hotdogs will be on the return stop? ... don't forget your costume, and bagged candy for the parade!
